Bonehead!
« on: February 14, 2015, 12:36:44 PM »
I hardly ever get into the MA anymore and when I do I end up sitting in a GV or flying into a red cloud and as rusty as I've gotten I really shouldn't be doing that anymore.  The result is that my score looks like crap, and to someone who used to fly for score, and did pretty well at it, it's somewhat depressing.

So last night I logged on for a few hours.  I played the GV game for a while losing one of each type of Tiger (the II to a bomb**** while not being a concrete warrior).  At this point I was thinking about logging off but there was a friendly CV nearby so I upped my trusty F6F-5 loaded to the gills with ord and off I went.

The red GV's were everywhere.  Every type of tank, flak and light vehicle.  I skillfully deposited my ord while dodging flakpanzer fire scoring 4 kills!  It's been so long since I was able to get multiple kills I wanted to be sure I landed them, so I bypassed our GV base and our CV, dodging a PT boat along the way, to get to an airfield and make sure nothing could go wrong.

And nothing did go wrong.  Until I checked my score.  I'd taken off in fighter mode and none of it counted.    :frown:

Sounds like a successful mission. If you aren't trying to be #1 score is just numbers.

I put in a wish to have it switch scoring automatically when ords are selected.  Either that or just have one scoring system.  Not sure why we have fighter and attack.

Consider the average preflight checklist that we can ignore and compare it to the 3 items we have to remember: fuel load, ords, fighter or attack mission.  It doesn't seem too much of a burden. There are times you may want to drop a bomb and still want to fly in fighter mode or vice versa.

With the different models available you might keep the P-38L in attack mode with ords loaded and the J model ready to go as a fighter.
Then you can even skip the 3 items I mentioned.

So, to recap: when you got bombed in a tank, "I played the GV game for a while losing one of each type of Tiger (the II to a bomb****" and when you bombed tanks, "I skillfully deposited my ord".

:rofl AH at its best. The other day as I was skillfully looking for an angle of attack while flying "towards an enemy" the bastage HO'd me. I was so shocked at what I was seeing my finger squeezed the trigger without my mind even knowing about it. Then the HO'er Bastage had the nerve to hit me and take my engine out while naturally my bullets missed.

Since I shot out of surprise.......

You can bet I went on 200 and gave him a "what for". GD! HO'ers. :O

Do you have an example in mind?

That is what I do but sometimes I just want to use a single plane for both.

For example dropping radar when you're working on your fighter score or flying a fighter in attack mode when you're protecting your fighter score.

You can make checking modes a habit for each flight even when you don't have to change it, or write a note and stick it on your monitor.

Like the OP noted, it just happens.

If you take responsibility for your actions or inactions things won't "just happen" as often.
