P-40B Tomahawk Mk.1 of 26 Squadron RAF
« on: February 16, 2015, 12:57:05 AM »
26 Squadron was one of the first RAF squadron to receive Curtis Tomahawk Mk. 1's as part of the Lend Lease Act. This squadron used their P-40B and C's for both armed reconnaissance and ground attack missions. This specific aircraft is outfitted with a camera in the radio access hatch.

Very nice!
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

Great look!

Can I ask a P-40 question without taking this off track? As a kid I read a couple books on the flying Tigers. I remember different models being designated Warhawks, Tomahawks and Kittyhawks. What were the distinctions?

According to Wikipedia:

"P-40 Warhawk was the name the United States Army Air Corps adopted for all models, making it the official name in the United States for all P-40s. The British Commonwealth and Soviet air forces used the name Tomahawk for models equivalent to the P-40B and P-40C, and the name Kittyhawk for models equivalent to the P-40D and all later variants."

Both P-40s turned out very nice.  I think you're getting the hang of it.  ;)
