AH not recognizing all buttons on a G700s
« on: February 17, 2015, 08:31:00 PM »
I recently picked up a G700s, then quickly found out that a few of the buttons are not recognized in AH.  Is there something I am missing???  I have run Logitech's software to setup a profile on the mouse, so the buttons are confirmed active. :headscratch:

Wow I find it hard to believe it has been almost 38 days since our last path. We should have release another 38 versions by now  :bhead

Some joysticks do not pass through various inputs of the stick and require they be used in conjunction with the manufacturer's software.  Saitek is big on this, as an example.

Aces High will only report the buttons passed through DirectInput (the input arm of DirectX).  If they are not showing in the Aces High input configuration panel, then they are not being passed through DirectX.

Aces High can use the mouse for mouse flight control as well as mousing so it needs a way to switch between modes since it can't do both at once. When you launch a plane to the runway you can see this when you use H to toggle mouse control, the cursor disappears when you are in flight mode. Note the cursor also disappears when the clipboard is not up. The left and right mouse buttons can be programmed and will work but they may appear to do nothing until they are programmed and you are in flight mode. On my G9x mouse I only see buttons 2,3, and 4 but 5 buttons work, left and right are 0 and 1. This is without using any Logitech software.

Well, I even have the same issue with War Thunder in it not recognizing all buttons on the mouse.  I went as far as to create custom profiles in an attempt to get it to work, but nothing.  I really just want to use the rear two buttons, instead of have to have my thumb over them to reach the front two.  There 4 buttons are on the L side of the mouse.  Google the G700s, you'll see what I mean. :)

Ah well.  I can still get by, just kind of bites that I can't get all buttons to be recognized. :(

I believe the only way your unseen buttons would work is if the Logitech software sent a keyboard command when you push those buttons.

Tried that and couldn't get it to work.  I tried it for War Thunder. Fairly certain the result would be the same for AH.  The hassle isn't worth it, as I didn't intend to use all the buttons in AH anyways.  I just wanted to use buttons that are easier for me to get to. :)

Will it send through recorded macros on those buttons?

Yes.

I messed around with it a little more, and got it to do what I wanted in War Thunder.  So I am fairly certain it will work in Aces High.

LogiTech Gaming Software gives you the option to use profiles stored on the mouse, or on the computer.  The last time I was using profiles stored on the computer, and couldn't get it working.  I did leave the software running and it wouldn't work.  Also tried it with the software off, still didn't work.  This time I only used the on-mouse profiles and it worked as I wanted.

This much is certain, if you want the buttons to do what you want, you'll want to make the changes on the mouse profile.  Profiles stored on the PC seem to do jack.  A real PITA having to use the buttons in this manner though.  Be nice to assign them as we do with the standard buttons on a standard mouse.

I got it working, so I'm not likely to mess around with the PC profiles now.  But I'll probably tink around with it later. If City of Heroes wasn't shut down, I could really mess with the profiles.  What's funny is that I still have City of Heroes installed and the LGS recognized it.  I wouldn't have thought that the LGS would see it, since City of Heroes was shut down a little over two years ago. :)
