A superb read - there are none better in my opinion.

Good luck finding this one for under $600. I read excerpts online via the publisher's website a few years ago, but they've been removed.

I highly recommend "Messerschmitts over Sicily" by Johannes Steinhoff. He was the commander of Jg 77 in Sicily during the summer of 1943 and this book is revealing in showing the impossible situation the Luftwaffe found itself in. The biggest obstacle he faces was not the Allies, but the ineptitude of the High Command(I.E. Goering).

"Betrayed Skies" by Rudolf Braunburg.  The author was a young 190 pilot who managed to survive being seriously wounded.

He clearly loved flying the 190A.  Combat not so much.  But it's a good view from a German pilot who wasn't an Ace. 

I found my copy in a used book store many years ago now and I go back and re-read it fairly often.

Although not itself written by German pilots, "JG26:  Top Guns of the Luftwaffe", by Caldwell is a daily history of JG26 written from their records, personal diaries, and interviews with JG26 pilots.
