I had a '77 mgb, though US model with the big bellybutton baby buggy bumpers instead of the nice chrome ones.
And I also love that you guys can truly do a run what you brung type event. I did some hill climbs here (Vermont actually) with my '84 audi 4000s q and could run with just a helmet, but any mods at all meant roll cage minimum. And never ever found a road course venue where you didn't have to tool up to the nines, whereas I beleive UK you can run street cars as is in side by side racing correct?

Nothing modern because I like cornering sideways at 35MPH. Car is being taken apart to build a 1965 Lemans lookalike (not replica).

Yes street rides are welcome with a couple of minor saftey mods, thats the class i intend to enter as i can't afford a track only car

In the US all you have to do for entry level hill climb is a secured fire extinguisher. You need a roll bar only for convertibles.

Nice Frenchy. That brings back good, and bad memories. Mine was BRG with overdrive.

The bad memories were loosing a universal joint (a real sweety to change) and pulling the radius rods for the rear out of the floor pan

No Frenchy, it was the inner joint.



Forgot also when I washed the car or it rained heavy it would be hard to start. Water went down the hood louvres. :eek:

I always wanted a Triumph Spitfire.  Instead I ended up with one of these (exactly like this one):



28 years after buying it new it's still a daily driver and at ~175,000 mi. doesn't burn oil, has no oil leaks and just passed a compression check with flying colors.

BTW, don't they do auto cross in GB?  The ultimate in bring what you have racing.

I refuse to consort with the Prince of Darkness ever again.   I had to re-wire my MG too many times to ever consider that again.

We have Auto grass and Auto testing both of which usualy require a modified car
I used to be a Street Racer but i'm 50 now and want to live a bit longer so legit motorsport it has to be
Another AH stick is giving it a go to but in a different class
