Declination
« on: March 07, 2015, 11:04:42 AM »
Two weeks ago (Day I went on a very long field problem) I signed my declination of continued service statement.

It's official, no more Army come the end of this year...looking forward to starting down a different path. :rock :rock

Congrats Junky

I know what ever you do further down in life you will bring your dedication and gung-ho way to it. Thanks for your service and remember as a civilian you have more rights than in the service. Stay safe and see you on the flip side.

Congrats Junky.  I seems like yesterday you were posting/200 about joining the Army.  Time flies.

I think everyone who has known you or even just read what you've posted over the years is proud to know you, and grateful for what you've done.  I know from my own experiences that it couldn't have been easy, and you had things harder than I ever did.  I also can commiserate a little, as my career in a sort-of similar field came to an early end due to health.  I'm sure it's been difficult to wrap your brain around the knee/etc, and accept things, but IMO you have a great attitude about things and general, and that attitude and your planning/actions will serve you well moving forward.  Thing are only going to improve.  You served your country for a long time, now you can take care of yourself, and be proud.

Junky, was it purely because of your knees and running problems?

Not all just my running problems...my family was a huge part...they would have supported either way. I've spent most of my last 6 years OCONUS, it's time I settled down where I want to spend my life...which is the beautiful state of Maryland with my family.

Congrats Junky! You did something that not many men have done in their lives and can be very proud of that. It will prepare you well for the rest of your life outside the military. Sounds like you have a good plan for the future, I have the feeling that you will do well.

Get into a technical field when you get out.  They pay the best.  This slight dip in the energy sector is only temporary.  I am an inspector in the petrochemical field.  To all my friends who are wondering about clueless in the job field, I highly suggest becoming a union welder.  The pay is phenomenal, it's a highly structured organization especially well suited for ex-military, and the ability for advancement is very high.

Best of luck to ya Troop. I hope the road ahead is smooth and has great scenery. Look around the country as well there are nice places all over and some that are far friendlier to Military folks.
