GV Expansion for AH3
« on: March 11, 2015, 03:04:14 PM »
Wonder if maybe by the next release of AH, we might see some more tanks or armored vehicles from other countries like Britain, Italy, Japan, Spain, etc. that have participated in WW2, maybe even WW1 to be selected into the game. Any vehicles come to anyone's mind that they could convince the developers to insert to the game?

90% of these tanks from countries mentioned would be scenario-only  tanks. In MA they would  be useless against current set-up.
Not that I'm against scenario-only tanks but their usage would be very limited elsewhere.

My ammo last for 6 Lancasters, or one Yak3.

Yup.  Of that list I think only some British tanks would be MA usable for anybody not seeking an extreme challenge.

That would be very frustrating for new GVers.  A D3A can shoot down a stupid Me262 as its guns can punch little holes in it.  A Type 97 cannot destroy a Tiger II unless the Tiger II actually manages to roll over and present his belly armor to the Type 97.

The only recourse those without gobs of perk points would have is to go grab a Tu-2 or something and bomb the Tiger II out of existence.  That doesn't sound fun for the guys in the little tanks or the guy in the Tiger II.

There are a few tanks that could be added that might see some use in the MA.

For Britain the Cromwell was roughly equivalent to the 75mm Sherman but was a fair bit faster.

The later Comet was better protected and had a similar gun to the Firefly, this would be the best of the British tanks.

The Churchill was well protected but had a similar gun to the 75mm Sherman and was too slow to see much use in the MA. However the special engineer AVRE versions might be useful if HTC introduced bunkers or obstacles like ditches to the game.

The Archer would make a good cheap tank destroyer as it had a 17 pdr gun. It was an odd design though with the gun mounted in the rear. The idea was it could set up an ambush, fire a few shots and then retreat quickly to a new position without having to turn round.

For the USA there is the Pershing heavy tank and the lightly armoured M36 tank destroyer, both armed with a 90mm gun.

For the Soviets the Su 100 tank destroyer would see a fair bit of use. HTC might even be able to add the Su-85 or Su-122 gun options onto the same shape like they did for the Panzer IV F1/F2.

Also there is the heavy tank chassis developments like the KV-1, KV-85 or IS-2.

Germany has a few competitive tank destroyers yet to be done, but they wouldn't really add anything to what is already in the game. The Italian and Japanese tanks would all be MA hangar queens.

Hungarian tank destroyers.  :aok Granted only useful in early war situations against other tanks. However as a AAA platform in late war.

The Hungarian 40/43M Zrínyi II although not a true tank but an assault vehicle with a 105mm howitzer in it might still be useful & fun in AHIII.

If it was up to me, and it's not, I'd suggest adding the tanks that fought in North Africa.  You'd get Matildas, Crusaders, Grants, and Stuarts to go against early Panzer IVs as well as the Panzer III.  Along with that add a desert arena where tanks would have to fight out in the open.  With the 75 mm gunned Sherman and the later Panzer IV there's a start already
