Damned Squad Frame 2
« on: March 14, 2015, 07:57:30 PM »
I was reviewing the logs and noticed that the Damned upped for one sortie, about 50 mins into the frame. Then they all RTB'ed and towered out. There was over 50% of the frame left.

I know they are new to FSO and was wondering if they knew they could rearm and continue in the frame?

Which is unfortunate.

A lot depends on your mission and where you are. There are many times, due to location, that a second strike is all but impossible. At that point, there is little reason to up for another sortie.

Nine 110Cs got 8 kills without a loss. Think they got their money's worth.
And logs do not show airworthiness at time of towering. Bad fuel leak + lost aileron and having to hunt a fight in the second half can be discouraging. If several are in the same boat, some squads will not relaunch knowing they will be a minimal force. Mine will, but the results are sometimes not what we would have liked.

I was not saying that The Damned specifically towered early in undamaged aircraft, I'm just commenting on a perceived trend for all squads.

True, their might have been mitigating circumstances. Some of my squad were forced to land at 116 and towered out in part because the field was still under attack.

Got some pretty good video of that action at 116.
I get really really tired of selective realism disguised as a desire to make bombers easier to kill.

We usually try to rearm if we have the numbers and are within striking distance of a target field or think we can hunt somthing down. I had a mishap rearming but the rest of the squad went over to see what they could do and straffed 25 objects worth. Points in the bucket for axis.  Those guys were in twin engine rides too and may have been aware of the points value. ??  Anyway I was the lead for their defense at 93 and they did a fine job along with the 367th Dynamite Gang.  :salute to all, even the Allies who attacked us. The base to the south flashed as soon as fields opened so I couldn't tell if you were using that against us or not.
Fun frame. :aok

Seems I can't edit the post to fix the link - have to repost.

because of the point system, I tell my guys not to re-up unless they can do it with safety. if we have bombers, I never let them re-up if we survive... too many points at stake!

Most of the squad was disappointed do to lack of action.  Didn't want to lose the aircraft to acknowledge.  Closest fight looked like it would be gone by the time we rearmed and flew 2.5 sectors.

Rgr that Condor. just wanted to make sure you guys were aware you could hotpad if you liked.

It seems that many FSO players last frame, did the same. I think that may be due to the map/distances or just that the numbers dropped drasticly at mid frame and fights were hard to come by. I hope its not some other factor that may harm the participation in FSO.

Yes we were aware. But after being stuck with defense and a lot circling for 2 frames.  There wasn't a lot of hype to keep circling.  If things were closer it probably would have made a difference.

I was cruising around in God Mode, watching the action at A116. Saw a couple of guys tower out because a lone 111 came down to try for the vulch.
