Could Someone help me be a better fighter pilot?
« on: March 17, 2015, 03:58:49 PM »
So, I've been flying in Aces High II for about a year now, But i still find myself being bested by alot of pilots.
Was hoping for some 1 on 1 training, specifically for help in the P-51D and P47 models.

Hi Pine <S>

Book some time with a trainer in the Training Arena.
I would be more than happy to give you some tips if no official trainer is available.  I live in Australia though so my time online is early hours for the US time zone. Presuming you are in the US that is :P

Cheers

Hey Pine! There is a TON (and by ton, I mean a TOOOOOOOOOOON) of information involved in being a better fighter pilot, and it will take a while to learn it all. It'll all seem totally overwhelming at first but stick to it! Learn things one at a time and you'll slowly get better little by little. Time with a trainer is the single best thing you can do as trainers have a vast wealth of knowledge and first-hand experience is the BEST kind of experience.

Until you get a session set up with a trainer here's a link to a sort of 'tutorial' video I did to get your feet wet (you can check out some of the other tutorial videos as well if you like :)  )

My ingame handle is Pine, Usually in the Late War Arena on the Knights, again, thanks all for the help!

Hello Pine. I remember when I first started the game. I played Microsoft combat flight simulator and thought I'd be beast mode starting AH with my semi flight Sim experience. Gee was I wrong haha. It took me a week to learn the radio. I upped in the MA having no freaking clue what to do... Got drilled left and right and thought, wow maybe I don't know how to fly lol.

I read a lot about becoming better. I'd watch videos of guys getting 4 kills in their 190Ds and being so enthused they could do it one sortie. I learned about merges, SA, ACM, and energy. It wasn't till I started dueling a few of the veterens that I really started to develop my game. I tried to learn all the planes and fight and die as much as I could. It really takes a lot of practice to learn the game and understand combat situations, even after 9 years of playing.

I'd be willing to let you fly in my plane if I see you on. I can explain situations to you, show you what to look for on the maps, and show you how to set up attacks while successfully getting away. There are many simple tactics that you can do which will get you a lot of more kills simply by merging correctly when you engage an enemy. Also, I know many defensive tricks that you can use counterpounch those pesky BnZers, it will take some practice though.

So keep on practicing and next time I see you on, you can join my plane and it will show you a lot.

Willing to help you practice as well. Been flying the jug th e past couple of months and I can show you what I've learned. See the thread here called "jug Instructions" which chronicles my own learning process. I'm in the US central time zone.

If you're a Knight, maybe we can wing up and go on sorties. Even after 2 years of playing, I still suck, so it'd be cool to learn together in the MA.

Oh yeah, you WILL die. Especially if you're new to the MA. But don't be discouraged as I was when I first started, just keep flying around. Because each time you get shot up is something to learn from.

Be flexible. Learn how to fly everything and anything, so that way you know how to fight in those planes and how to fight against them!

Well, that's all I can say from my experience. Hopefully the veterans on here can help you out a bit more.

Could always wing with me if you see me in the MA. I'm not particularly good but I do make great bait. I could also show you some of the things I do know.
