USB headset problem
« on: March 26, 2015, 05:38:15 PM »
Started using a USB headset mic after issues with the 3.5 jack on my soundcard. First day it worked fine. Now when I plug it in I can hear the headset being recognized and dropped by he computer constantly and the mic won't work. Opened device manager and the headset will show in "sound, video and voice controller" and then disappear. This constantly repeats itself back and forth until I close device manager.

I've gone through the settings numerous times but cannot figure out how to eliminate the conflict.

Any help is appreciated.

Sounds like the USB bus is not supplying enough power causing the device to drop on and off the USB bus.

Your computer probably has, at least, two USB hubs in it (regardless of the number of available ports).  Try another USB port and keep trying them until you find one that is stable.  Good chance it will be on another USB hub.

This presumes it is a USB power issue.

Didn't think of that. Already purchased another headset with 3.5 jacks and they fine.

Thanks Skuzzy
