They did it again!
« on: March 30, 2015, 04:43:19 AM »
This time from 135 in LVT's all the way to Bish HQ without flashing it! :x

Took them 15hrs over 2 days but they dropped the HQ once again in GV's something like 125 nautical miles :rock

Unlike the knights though Bish found them shortly afterwards once HQ popped as they began shelling it down again. This had a severe impact on Bish operations as players logged in rage making it easy to sweep all but 1 base on the Rook southern front. Bish morning/day crew put up one hell of a fight everytime.

WTG 49thFG on an outstanding mission. Thats dedication. Something never tried before and I highly doubt ever to be done again :salute

U guys need to get a life.
There are a reason that people dont spend 15 hours in a LVT just to kill HQ and make people log off.

As one that is not a big fan of the state of HQ dropping in the MA, I will admit that's pretty clever   :rofl

Well I added a little fat to the story. Players did in fact log but they started on the HQ around 1am EST. It is never their intention to drop HQ's simply to make people log off but we saw numbers decrease dramatically shortly after. I think it was a combination of that and the gangtarding from both Rooks and Knights at tank island. If it was their intention they would implement Operation FineTime which may take place sometime in the future if need be :devil

Operation FineTime: Launch 3 B-29's for city and FH's within 50 miles of HQ. Launch 4 fighters with drop tanks and land them within 5 minutes flight time of HQ for goons. Drop HQ with GV's without flashing HQ. Rinse and repeat!

Operation Sneek-A-Toke: Launch 5 B-29's for city, troops, and ords factories. Pork ords and troops at bases that spawn into HQ and any base within 50 miles of HQ. Launch goon for GV resupply. Rinse and repeat!

BTW good fight over 139 earlier Zimmie83! I was hoping you would take the bait and not see the goon. Hope you were able to land that bird after you dropped my last 17. I heard your engine cut out not sure if you had enough to get back to the runway <S> Hope our BG's meet up in the scenario in May look forward to flying with you not against you!

No i ditched and did not make it to town in time to save it, just loged on and saw the base flashing w/o any darbar so i figured out that there was a sneak ongoing. Unfortunatley noone else seems to be able to look at the map and draw the right conclsions...
The Brewster isnt the right tool to deal with 17:s either but thats life.

I have saved some bases by upping and killed the goon, best one was dodging 3 hoing 110:s and strafing down the goon landed just outside the town.  :D
but its harder if u just log on to figure out whats going on.

Oustanding!

Give you some insight into what lead up to that before we met. We had aquired a CV from a bish base we had just took so I sent it and the cv we used to take 138 to 137. Sent 4 guys to shell 137 and get it ready knowing we would run into stout defense. While that took place 49Dundee and I went for the sneak at 139. RuAmL saw Dundee ' s goon on radar before I began he lost bearing of his location, flew into the dar ring, and killed him while I prepped town. RuAmL and someone else got me but not before I had the town close to WF, all deacked, and dar dropped. They saved the WF but that was perfect as it allowed their guard to drop there and head over to defend the other base. As you saw I upped 17's to finish the job and dispatch Any who might up. They went to 137 according to plan and that's where you came in. It very easily could have ended differently we just got lucky :salute

I suspected a CV and LVT:s when i upped first. If i had knew that ther had been a try to take it just recently i woud prob have been acting differently and been huning goons instead of u.

I like it. They pay their money and play the way they want.
Can't say I'd be interested in driving an LVT all that way.  But it lights their candle, so good luck to them.

see that's how I feel. I can't bring myself to drive to an HQ let alone with LVTS over all that ocean but I'm fascinated by what they set out to do. They aren't flashing the HQ either. They are using the dot target command to zero in the target from long range using a forward observer as line of sight in the event they can't see the target due to hills, tress, ect. It's awesome listening in while it's going down. Along their journey the play music and listen to talk radio over teamspeak which makes the trips enjoyable. All around a great experience that I might actually have to try someday just to say I did it. The truely keep out doing themselves!
They originally set out with 6 guys but only 2 actually made it. 1 LVT with the howitzer and the other for resupply. It takes 220 rounds to drop the HQ with that gun so you have to have 1 of each or it fails the mission.

:neener:

This ain't about me just giving 49th their props. People need to hear about this stuff it's awesome what they put into this stuff and are able to do. It's completely outside the box strategy and hope a few folks from other countries catch on and give us a taste of our own medicine.  Can promise you if they do Rooks won't catch on as to what is happening for a good while.
