Gaming Headset
« on: April 04, 2015, 06:30:43 PM »
Well my wife's cat has succeeded in destroying my headset.  At first I thought I could duct tape it back together, but it must have pulled a wire loose.  The sound is cutting out on one side.  :bhead

It's a plantronics GameCom 780.  I have had it for a while and I'm just curious if anything newer has come out recently that would warrant a try, or if I should just get another one.

I use the RAZER Black Shark ...
Dang thing is rugged as all go out... solid built and comfortable too. All metal band theat can be adjusted to the player likeness for pressure on their ears, to a sturdy boom mic. Detachable boom mic so you can use a regular set of headphones, and the sound quality is outstanding. Plus I think they look cool..

Drawbacks to this are they are 2.1 and they are not surround. They only come in bright green, no choice for colors...

Ditto on Roccat Kave 5.1 (not the digital).  Razer will never see another penny of my money.

Got my ROCCAT KAVE 5.1 last June for $84.74 from Amazon.
Aluminum hinges were the selling point for me. I'm very happy with mine and I would recommend them to anyone.
Also, my TrackIR Proclip fits perfectly.

Ok I was leaning toward that Razer, but I was skeptical since I've heard some negative things about the brand.  I've never heard of these others.  Looks like I have some reading to do.

Branch, the headsets ..yes I have 2 of the Razer headsets, one for each rig I have is nice. I looked at the other style Razer headsets and they seemed, how shall I say this, chinsy, cheap, and looking like garbage. I selected these on the basis of steel construction and the adjustable boom mic. Keeping with this my girlfriend tried these on and says she likes them due to her other ones are adjustable on tension on her head. The earcups totally surround your ears and the sound is awesome..

The choice is up to you but for my moneys worth I am happy with my choice.

Also keep in mind that the Synapsis software has data mining embedded into it.   Couple that with their piss poor warranty dept.

Do the 3.5mm to USB adapters work worth a crap?  I'm just curious since I use my headset for my PS4 occasionally.

The ROCCAT Kave 5.1 Analog is the best headset that I have ever owned.  Although I have the Creative zX, so the pairing of the two is stellar.  In the ROCCAT's case, the USB is for power only.
