Easter prank
« on: April 05, 2015, 08:17:54 AM »
Easter eggs have been a tradition for centuries. Here in Finland we've had the Mignon eggs since 1896 when confectioner Karl Fazer brought the recipe from Germany. A Mignon egg is solid nougat chocolate inside a real hen's egg and they were popular even among the Czar family of Russia.

Yesterday while visiting my mother-in-law our Miss 16 realized we don't have them, so she insisted we'd have to get the delicacy as it has been a family tradition as far as she can remember. The eggs stayed on the kitchen table overnight, such a treat shall not be hogged lightheartedly.

Today, after having an early dinner we played a board game, after which the Mignons were served as dessert. The girls immediately noticed that there was no visible hole plugged with sugar as usual and they wondered whether the production had been altered. The younger one even joked about hen being fed with chocolate only to produce the Mignon eggs. Our Miss 19 read about the history of the eggs in the package while they carefully knocked their eggs against the table. Then, all of the sudden, the younger one screamed. Aargh! These are real boiled eggs! The factory must have made a mistake, we'll have to make a complaint! Fortunately one of them is still unbroken in the package...

It took a while to convince her that we had simply swapped the stickers on regular boiled eggs. The real Mignons in the egg carton helped, but she still thinks it was cruel after a couple of hours.

Sleeping past noon may not always be a good idea...
