Twisty Stick
« on: April 09, 2015, 04:28:52 PM »
Bit of a story here.

About 6 weeks ago I shoveled some snow, a heavy snow. The next day I woke up with a stiff knee. Couple of weeks later I helped my oldest daughter move. Woke with a painful swollen knee and so it has been until this week. I honestly don't remember hurting it.

Then this week my computer went on the fritz Sunday or more accurately that is the day I decided to fix it and while I'm waiting for the parts to arrive the knee has improved 50%. Definitely not normal but so much better.

Then it occurred to me, I think the strain and awkward angle of the rudder pedals is the culprit.

So now I think no more rudder pedals. Anyone have a suggestion for a twisty stick?

why dont you fix the angle?

you will not enjoy going back to twisty after using peddles.

I believe you. Took me years to get use to rudders and I still have no bragging rights. The pedals are Ch and they have a narrow gap between feet. I just don't know how to fix that.

Try these: http://flightsimcontrols.com/store/available/t-rudder-pedals-mkii/

They pivot vertically instead of horizontally.

man that sux...I have the Saitek peds....I have seen the CH and and didn't like the distance....

if you are mechanically inclined...you could rip apart those peds and make a whole new custom set from the working parts.

I would google "homemade rudder peddles" and try to make a pair from what you have....no way would I go back to a twisty...

my son who is 16  is 6'1" and 240lbs wants to fly, but I wont let him use my set up....for some reason I see him and those damn tree trucks for legs breaking my Saitek peds.....

anyways I hope your knee gets better and you figure it out :salute

I saw those in another thread. I wonder how far they are apart at the feet.

For your knee, you probably have some sort of inflammation there. Try wrapping a rag soaked in heavily salted water around it several times a day, it may help.

Even better I have an old Tibetian foot bath recipe:

Take 80 pounds of cow manure, 10 pounds of stale butter and 40 gallons of cow urine. Mix thoroughly and let ferment for a few days.

Sink your feet in it for a few minutes per day. I guarantee anything you do after that will feel like an improvement lol.

Hahaa I cheated. This is not Tibetian foot bath like many of you guessed. Yep, that's right, this is how they make food.  :rock

Oldest son broke my Saitek pedals about a month ago, haven't bought anything since, been using that mini stick on the CH throttle for the rudder, not the best setup........ anyway do have a set of old analog CH pedals, wondering if a serial to USB adapter would allow those to work? anyone try this?

I wish I could answer...but I have no clue...I have an old stick that seems super tight but it is an old serial plug...so I am wondering myself.

I Use the CH Rudder pedals Sabot. I agree the distance between the two legs are narrow. If i was to put both my feet onto the pedals how its suppose to be I will be squeezing the hell out of my balls. What I do is I put both my heels on the pedals but I keep both my legs tilted the opposite directions. This way i have breathing space between my balls and I'm relatively comfortable most of the times.....Sometimes i will take my feet off while climbing out until I get to the fight. So I basically Space my legs out but i keep both of my heels on the bottom of the pedals. :salute

Anyone have a suggestion for a twisty stick?

The 3 twisty sticks I've used since acquiring CH gear...

Microsoft Precision Pro USB - smoothest response of all three. They can still be found on Ebay.

Saitek Cyborg - a bit wider throw vs the MSPP. Relatively smooth and very comfortable. Built to last, they aren't. I had 3 of them over a 2 year period.

Logitech 3D Pro - bought this while I was traveling a few years ago. VERY TIGHT throw even with default scaling and bumped up deadband. Still, it seems pretty popular with a number of players.

Hope that helps
