Ack the community cant ignore me. You might but I rile emotions that cannot be contained.
I have made my frienda and earned the respect of those who i fly with. They know me you do not. So although i respect the people who disagree i do not respect the opinions of those who whine on the bbs about how bad the game has become. you adapt and overcome... and when that fails you log for the night.
Wizz, you know me, have flown with me and I believe respect my opinion. Hopefully you respect me enough to read and consider what I am about to say.
First, I respect your enthusiasm. You're an energetic guy (I know from talking to you!). I think you largely mean well also. Kudos on recruiting and adding players to the game.
That said, you can't try to "rile up" (read: troll) the community with every-other thread/post and then expect to have your opinions respected by anyone. It really appears to me that your approach to the forum is largely one of trolling the player base. Many players treat the forum this way -- like an extension of the game where the intent is to
combat others or simply
grief them. I've never embraced that approach. Like Guppy, I believe you are getting that reputation -- and I agree with him that makes you more problematic than helpful here, in my opinion as well.
I realize you are trying to counter the negativity on the forum -- that is a good intent. It's not necessarily
what you are saying, but
how you are saying it that is the problem. Here's an important thing to keep in mind: Many people who take the time to monitor this forum, comment on it and, yes, even "whine" on the forum, are people who
care. If they didn't care, they'd simply leave the game. I'm sure there are plenty of those as well, people we never hear from, and who leave without a word. While some comments/suggestions on the forum can be completely off-base, many are valid symptoms of actual problems with the game and some players' approach to it (like the HQ griefing that is definitely on the rise). Usually a player's frustration level has to be rather high for them to take time to comment on the forum. So, they don't always do it the right way, however, this doesn't make their points invalid. Taking your approach of then "poking the bear" doesn't help at all.
With all due respect (again thinking you really mean well), you haven't earned the credibility in the community to engage with some of these long-time (and respected) players the way you have. I'd simply suggest trying to be a little more respectful and open-minded of opinions you don't agree with. I think if you do that, you'll eventually find you have much more in common than you thought -- and that is that we all want a healthy, thriving and fun Aces High game and community. HTC is working hard to bring out a new update to the game, to hopefully reach that end. Time will tell on that. But in the meantime, there are some painful (to those who care) things going on in the game that are cause for complaint/concern (good or bad).
Please take a step back and consider what I've said before replying. Maybe even sleep on it first.
Respectfully,
Ryno
