Anyone have experience with video editing from a remote desktop? I'm was wondering I it would be worth setting up or I it will just end up being a headache.

What do you mean by "remote desktop"? I only edited from a dedicated machine. If you mean a "wire less" set up the first thing I can think is band width issues. You can only squeeze so many bytes down a garden hose. And the HD compressions have a whole lot of bytes.

I mean accessing my Home computer from work. Remoting into my Desktop from work with my laptop.

It can be done with Teamviewer, though I don't enough about this stuff to recommend doing it from work...

I use it to troubleshoot my parents' laptop in the other room so I don't have to get up.

Basically you make an account with Teamviewer and install the application in remote control mode on your home computer and add it to your account. Then you just log in with username and password to the Teamviewer application on your laptop and double click your home pc on the right and you have full control.

+1 for teamviewer, I've been using it awhile and like it quite a bit. However, I mainly use it for fixing family members computers. I'm not sure if it's even still around, but I used to use radmin and it worked great too.

Got team viewer set up, works great.

I planned on using it for photoshopping and video editing on my home Desktop from work with my laptop.

TeamViewer works well, we used it for remotely installing and configuring virtual machines during my last stint at evening school. Yesterday I heard that on the current course there's people participating the lessons through Lync or ActiveConnect and practicing on the virtual machines through TeamViewer from the other side of the country.

Just out of curiosity, knowing that photoshopping and video editing can catch your attention for countless hours trying to get that last pixel fixed, what is that "work" you're referring to?

I work as a Tech at the family Computer store as one of my Jobs. Although I do go out on the road for service calls and such, some days I'm sitting around pushing along clean installs. Its nice to be able to do something while other than watch loading screens
