Feedback From Frame1 Battle for Salerno
« on: May 09, 2015, 11:34:00 PM »
<S>All

I am looking for feedback from the players that took part in last night's FSO I was wondering for future set up's what the players thought of an early morning take off to their targets and so on. I was trying to have it timed to where the battles started with the Early Morning Sunrise from dark.  Just trying to figure out for Future Events to Keep the Pre-Dawn lift offs or stay with the steady bright daytime op's. If anyone has some screens from this event that would be great.

Thanks

Pre-dawn lift was amazing. I got a lot of favorable comments from my squad on how different it was from the MA. We hit our target just as it was getting light and there was plenty of daylight to see and be seen.

Our first battle started in the dark LOL, as our outgoing strike ran into an incoming strike.

The only thing I have against the dark is that they still haven't fixed the mission maker after all these years.  Other than that - was great!  Also, the map weather, excellent!

I get really really tired of selective realism disguised as a desire to make bombers easier to kill.

Though it was interesting, never fails though sunrise always in my face. Mission planner glitch as previously mentioned was an irritant.  I thought the early morning launch was a nice change. Wish you could see  the exhaust flashes when it was dark, that would be cool.
Overall it was a fun night.  :aok

It was interesting for me to begin with, as sometimes the name highlight for squadies and friendlies and even the bad guys sometimes will come and go thus leaving the aircraft literally nameless. To start my night off this happens and I was surrounded by a bunch of Focke-wulfs, 109's, and Junkers. But the sound of those Dailmer-Benz engines, priceless. I caught sight of my 'Staffel' climbing out towards the moon and followed their outline until the light thing decided to work. It was very real for me and I enjoyed it thoroughly well done!

The fights were a blast for the defenders of 93 as we were hit very hard by B-26's, B-17's and their escort fighters. I was fortunate and got four of the *******'*!  :D

Seriously though nice job, I think it'd be interesting to see some carrier operations like this. :salute

I loved it.  The lighting made it feel a bit more real as we rolled off pre-dawn.  Timing IS important and I would want to avoid engagements in the dark by making sure there was at least a bit of the sun on the horizon before shots are able to be fired.

It was a very good change of pace, primarily because it wasn't a BBS topic beforehand.

We made our first contact a few minutes before 'false dawn'.  We made contact with the main force during the spooky, eerie, first shooter's light.

A personal challenge for me was not clearly seeing my squadron mates during attacks.  I was pretty much a nob according to the film.  It revealed a need for better communication during attacks.

Great job, and it was a lot of fun.

Thanks for the replies back guys Frame 2 is also a pre dawn lift off but lift off time is at 05:30 hrs instead of the 05:15 that I had for frame 1 I am testing the limits and responses back from the players who make FSO a Fun and Enjoyable Fight. Colors you are seeing you will also see in the future for an upcoming Scenario. I also like the a Pre Dawn Pac Lift off as mentioned by someone else earlier in the topic.

Suggestion: Maybe a frame or scenario where we have an evening mission, with sunset sometime in the last hour of the frame?

Well I can change the time for this one so players can get a feel of what a Nighttime Dusk Fight is like ,,, The 12 Hr Scenario you will also see these time changes that is where I got the Ideal to play with the colors and times here for this month

These were skies and Feeling I was trying to duplicate for this Event

Loved the look of things at takeoff. Loved the clouds and moonlight on them. Just make sure you have that timing down as it'd be a mess trying to find anything to shoot at in the dark with short icons and no other visual cues like dots to give things away. Gotta be at least early daylight and that's what we had by the time the 119 attack arrived.

Loved it.  Only the mission planner thingee...   but we worked that into the plan and self launched.  No deal breaker for me.  Love the dark stuff.  Would love to do that in the Pacific launching off carriers.
