Troops in Radar Ring
« on: May 22, 2015, 03:17:29 PM »
:airplane: Just a interesting thought, but how about if you could deploy troops from "Goon" or M3, LVT's anywhere inside the DAR ring and they would run to the map room!
Now you would have another method of capturing a base and would promote active "recon" flights by aircraft and GV's.
Fire away guys, cause I know most wouldn't like this idea!
Blue Skies and wind at my back and wish that for all!!!

flying around looking for running troops would only be marginally less boring than flying supplies to hq..

So you will have bases flashing for hours, because someone is dropping them 12 miles out.
Again and again.

Even more players engaging in non combat activities as they search whole sectors for troops on the ground.... that's what we need ;)

Would be interesting. Drop trops at dar ring and then try to estimate how long time they need to get to the map room. Then up and trying to WF and deack town so that it will still be down when the troops arrives.

No im not sold on the idea.

Some players used to drop troops from a C47 at 15-20k over the town. Then come back and de-ak. Accept being shot down while the defenders landed thinking it was a single noob. Base would keep flashing, and they figured the noob bailed and was running around on the ground. Defenders would ignore the town, troops would eventually land and take the map room. Who looks up in this game if no icons are involved......

If you go from the tower to the hanger, troops die. If you up anything they die (ord as well)

Doing a 20k troop drop on town works, u have to sit in tower for >10 min and u dont get any score for it but its fun when it works.
Running troops from the dar ring is another thing dough, even if they run at 10 mph it takes them an hour to get to the town.

it wasn't always that way. you could drop troops and reup and they'd still be running. that's how you'd get a capture in attack mode.

true, reason it was changed it was because sometimes you would spawn close to town and there would be hundreds of troops running.

many times I used to land 30, 40 or 50 kills just flying low over the spawn all proxies.
