Just wanted to say thanks Bino for running the B5n2 instead of the TBM. I know some will want to puke flying it as an allied bird but it is much closer to the devastator's performance numbers. Bold move--PROPS!

I seem to recall this being done before, but I could be wrong.  Just out of curiosity, this is not a whine about the setup in any way, what is the problem with the TBM?  I know it is a later war model than what was really there, but still, it's no match at all for a zero.

The TBM is so much faster/heavily armed/armored than the Devastator. The TBM/TBD numbers are worlds apart, self sealing tanks as opposed to none, armor as opposed to none, about 100mph dif. in speed capability, it goes on! The B5N2 is much closer to the Devastators numbers. Will be fun to be able to catch an allied torp. plane with out having to have a 5k advantage to do so. This has been hotly debated in the past! Salute to Bino for giving it a go!

What concerns me more is the limits on the fighters. After the min's (20 for the dive bombers and 20 for the torp planes)  and max's (50 for both fighters) are reached for both sides, the majority of the remaining alloted aircraft will go in dive bombers.

The Allies have the clear advantage with the faster,  tougher,  SBD.  (which mind you is a later war variant that did not see action at Coral Sea or Midway) .

IMO,  the fighter minimums should be removed. So more fighters can be used especially for the Axis.

I was allied CiC last time this ran. I had to use SBDs in carrier defense.

I agree with the substitution. Very much more better than the TBM.

I understand the restriction on fighters, and I agree with it.  At Coral Sea, the USN didn't have enough wildcats to go around and SBDs did supplement the defensive strength.  I guess the restriction is put on the axis for balance.

After some discussion, the fighter maximum limits have been raised from 50 to 75 for each side. 

Per several web searches, both the USN and IJN had right around 20 fighters on each of the fleet carriers at Coral Sea. And Shoho only had 8 x A6M "Zero" and 4 x A5M "Claude" embarked.
