Salute JG11 and LCA
« on: June 06, 2015, 03:09:53 PM »
You guys at c22 really gave us hell, and sank our carrier. Only 3 of us in VF-17 were able to touch down at end of the night. Well done  :salute

It was Wiley and I that were scouts and spotted the carrier.  We went north to wait for our squaddies then a flight of 9 of you guys flew right under me.  We waited for the other pair of scouts to join us then attacked.  You guys did well and kept your F4's fast enough that we were not going to catch you going down hill even when we did attack.  They you smartly went back to your CV to protect it from what you knew would be coming soon.  We were so hoping to keep all 9 of you tied up while our bombers hit, you didn't go for that at all.   :salute

Very fun stuff!

not all of us made it back either.

But some did  and our CV was under water so we had to use another.

Fun night

Yeah, Zoney, we saw you and knew you for scouts, and knew figured a strike force was coming, from which direction we didn't know. The nine you saw was all of vf-17 that was flying that night. We tried to protect the boat, but too many of you. We knew we couldn't turn with a Zeke, gibg down hill was our only defence against a zero on my tail. Was a very exciting encounter.  :salute

That and I figured when you found us, you were calling in a fighter sweep.  It's what I would have done.  Those F4s just cant shake a zero that really wants to tail them.  Going back to the CV was really the only option I had.  It was a fun fight though.  I'm pretty sure we were all out of ammo by the time the CV went down though.

It was an exciting frame.  I was the lead Val for LCA and just as we sighted the CV, an F4f tore through our formation damaging one of our Val's.  I had to make several evasive turns to shake a couple of passes from the F4f's as I continued to the CV.  Our damaged Val made his dive early and never survived the attempt due to at least 3 F4f's on his tail.  I made my dive and got the first hit on the CV, but on pull out I had several F4f's on my tail and got splashed in short order.  The remainder of LCA made their attacks and finished off the CV.  The fighters kept the pressure on us just prior to and all through the attack...Well Done!

I was the initial lone F4f that came through the Vals. I had a zeke of JG11's harassing me when I stumbled upon your Vals.
It was a fun frame for sure. Even if I did get killed by someone I thought was a good friend.   ;)

:D  Aw now what's a few bullets among friends?  I was down to BBs when I got my shot from dead six.  Guessing you were PWed or something, you were straight and level when I got on you.

That was a really fun frame, looking forward to more like it!

Wiley.

Sik,the gloves come off in FSO!!! :rofl

Wiley should have got credit as he was the one who blasted your F4f and turned it into a nice fireball!  You had saddled up on Frodo and I tried to get you to break off with some MG's fired at you but you really wanted Frodo and wouldnt break!

I managed to close and hit you with a good burst of cannon fire and saw parts come off your plane, then you managed to PW Frodo and seemed to break back to the CV,thats about when Wiley came in and he must have killed your pilot because I saw your plane explode. IMHO he should have gotten the kill but I guess I had caused enough damage to get the credit!

We all win when it's fun! :aok

Morf, you got my pilot right about the same time I got Frodo's. I tried to make it back to the CV when I passed out and almost instantaneously Wiley finished me off.

It was a very well flown mission on JG11's part. I kept trying to work my way up and was waiting for you guys to blow all your alt chasing guys down, but your guys never did. There always seem to be at least two that stayed high when the others would push the F4f's down, very disciplined, and very well executed. I ended up having to blow my alt trying to shake Zambelli. The reason why I ended up low and in your guns. That and I really wanted the zeke kill.  :x

Hello: tunes here ...

I just want to salute all IJN Pilots on this Sortie. tunesV was the lucky one that put the last three AP Bombs on CV #22 to send her under the waves.

I did not make it back and I could not get a good Photo for you all to see. But let me say.
As a Dive Bomber Pilot. You Drive her down to the deck to you see the arresting wires and maybe just a bit more.

Hit her Dead Center and she dropped like a rock.

Great Work Everyone. <S>

I waited until the F4f bearing down on me was 800 away and firing.  :devil

Lol that was me trying to strafe the floating zeke.  I never had a clear shot as right as I started firing, I didn't even have a good line up, I saw the two other zekes using you as bait.  I broke off but one was able to close to within 200 yards and stay there for the longest 30 seconds of my life.  I never took any damage though.  :neener:
