Factorio

http://www.factorio.com/

Has anyone else here picked it up?

I picked it up a little while ago and I like it.  :D  Get's the planning going.  :aok  Plan well, and you won't be tearing stuff up all the time.  Plan poorly, and you'll be tearing up stuff a lot to get things working better.  My first factory was a bit messy, burner mining drills everywhere, random bits of electrical pole here and there.  Mixing copper/iron ore's to smelt them instead of giving them a dedicated smelting operation.  More than a few times trapping myself inside (still do it here and there :o).  Running off towards a Biter base (a VERY small one) and getting my arse handed back to me in a brown paper sack. :bhead

Going multiplayer capable was a good choice, though it is being a little hard on them.  I thought more than a few times, "Man, this would be even sweeter if it went multiplayer."  Low and behold, they got a working multiplayer side.  A bit rough and more for a LAN setup, but still functional. :D

The map I am on is pretty nice.  While it is a fairly dense forest region (which makes it a pain to set the factory up), it has decent "starting" resources.  Not too much stone so far, but it appears that there will be enough to wall in my factory in the future.  I have my steam engines smack in the middle of a large cluster of trees, which is really helping with pollution. Want to keep the pollution down as much as possible, until I have the factory walled in with basic defense. :)

This thing is crazy addictive. "Hmph... Doesn't look very good graphics wise... Ok, there's a free demo lets try it for a couple of minutes...." 8 hours and 22 bucks later, "why is it dark outside?"

 :rofl

Wait until you draw a couple of buddies into it. :D  Just remember, the multiplayer is definitely Alpha, so expect some issues there. :aok

OMG I work in one I don't need to play it when I get home! :D Whats the realism like? Is there in-fighting and social clicks? Heady political maneuvers for influence with the manager? Are the bathrooms filthy? As a boss are you being a proper cheap prik? Don't forget finger pointing when something goes wrong!

When I was a kid there was a game where ya ran a nuclear power plant. There would be earth quakes and stuff that would break equipment. You had to run around fixing it until it finally blew up! Was fun back in the day.
