the only cruelty in this world comes from man....

Wrong.  Studies have shown that we are not the only primates that can engage in cruelty, these traits have been widely observed and recorded while studying chimps and bonobos.

cruelty was here long before the first man , watch the dinos teeth; life in the ocean, starts from Solar energy and from there a chain of slaughter and about same on dry land;

eternal fight between positive and the contrary of the positive, this fight didn't even start here, was brought here with us;
but I believe will end soon;

Ghi what is the picture of the man on the ladder? Almost looks like a Banksy but probably not?   :cheers:

Cruelty, as in indifference to suffering... Mankind can't hold a candle to the rest of nature. That's what believers found the most disturbing and objectionable about Darwin's theories and scientific findings. Not evolution itself, but that nature is such a horrible place where everything living is constantly miserable, hungry and afraid. Only relieved by a horrible death.

Primates even show traits of territorial-ism and cannibalism.

I grew up in the country on a farm.  Each year we hunted dove, quail, and duck. Ate what we killed.  Only participated one hunt where a lot of dove were taken, but all were eaten.
If coyotes became a threat to our livestock or our pets, be it from overpopulation or whatever reason, we dealt with them.  Did it out of necessity, not for fun.  We raised our livestock to eat..........coyotes or other animals wanna become competition for our food, they got dealt with.
I have seen times where others would hunt the coyotes for fun, with guns or dogs.  My dad isn't a strict conservationist, nor a nature lover, but said hunters were told to stay off our land.  Overhunting of coyotes, bobcats, etc., usually saw a big increase the following year in rabbits and other animals that loved to eat your crops.  Our opinion was to only eliminate those animals that were threatening our operation, not shoot just any coyote or bobcat just because we could.  They have their role in nature and in the food chain....lower their numbers and animals lower down the food chain increase in number and THEY become the problem.
Didn't encounter a lot of feral hogs in our part of the county, but I knew guys who went hunting them all the time.  Some said they made decent meat, others did it just to say they killed a hog.
For our part, I don't feel the need to, nor will I ever apologize for the animals we killed, for food purposes or when they were a threat.  We did what we had to do to either eat or protect our animals.
Your mileage may vary............

The only animals I kill and don't eat are porcupines.

I take about one every few years when they set up shop in trees next to the house.

It breaks my heart to do it, but I do it for my dog. They are neat animals, but the outcome of porcupine-dog encounters, not so neat.

I agree that killing purely for sport is lame.

My buddy that lives near Lake Tahoe got ambushed by some coyotes on a walk with his dog....luckily he had a 120 pound German Shepherd backing him up when he smashed their heads in with a rock. He carries a big stick now...and a knife.

Oh and there are plenty of animals that can get killed and not be eaten...look at what Snake heads are doing.

The world and everything as you know works in a cycle.

Cycles are the way of life. They are the way of change, misfortune, and consequences, or, happiness, prosperity, and greatfulnes. The world and the universe is consistent with cycles that work over and over again for millions and billions of years. Cycles and mutations in cycles create adaptation, strength, understanding, and other phenomenons in species that allow them to achieve survival and more importantly reproduction. Cycles are the way of life but they have much importance to everything on this planet: Night and day, the kreb and protien cycles, the water cycle, it works for the biggest things and the tiniest things in the universe. Species have been around and survived way longer than humans, some will even continue to live longer than us. It is a natural misconception that humans have that we are the smartest and best adapted for this world.

We can all do what we can to be good people and good in society, but defining that is difficult. Some people think you have to have religion to be a good person, or to morally appreciate other people, but religion did create a sense of morality and was the guidestones to creating a peaceful state with laws and the idea of going to heaven and hell. That being said, we can see obvious discrepancies in the bible that are not moral and are very extreme, so by that it is in our nature to be evil and selfish, and kill and change, for your understanding of good or bad. The idea of a moralistic society can and has been debated for centuries. Free will and determinism, Faith, Education, destruction, and ideologies like these are what have changed society into a much more ethical and rational society. Today, believe it or not, we live in a much more peaceful, educated, clean, and technologically smart society. The media is the underlying factor that spreads hated, drama, and misconception in our society. Whether this is helping to ease the corruption, or only making people heated to the extreme to commit crimes of revenge, that is up to debate. Stay away from the media's dispicable perception of dogma, it will make you a happier person.

When you combined the concept of morality, like what is good and what is bad, what is ethical, what is irrational, you will get a million different responses and ideologies. This has been debated for centuries. Fortunately for most  humans, and some other animals, we posses empathy and feelings. We attempt to save hundreds of species every year. There are a hundred different organizations that preserve wildlife and animals. There are also thousands of hunters, some are moral and some are sinful, against a law of code and ethics that people have created simply because they feel empathy for them, something we dont even know if other animals can feel. It is a cycle just like everything else. These people are free to do what they want despite the ultimate consequence, they are good or bad in their own minds, despite the laws against them. But nature doesnt care about good and evil. Nature doesn't have empahty or feelings. So we must fear it, and respect it, and adapt to it. We cannot chose which animals go extinct, we can only attempt to stop it from happining. But if they cannot adapt to survive in the world, the will inevitably go extinct. That is just they way of life.

The earth has been through 5 great extinctions. 5!!! In an instant, everything you know could be wiped away. There is no morality and no rationale to it. The earth is a powerful place. The only thing we can do is survive in it, adapt to live longer, and convince other people to have a moralistic ideals to preserve the peace we dream to concur in the world. It is a complicated world out there. If you just focus on yourself, forget the news, forget all the bad things people want you to know about, and just worry about what's going on around you. You will be much happier as a human being on this planet.
