Why 2950 RPMs on the P-38?

Used keyboard for full power(shift +).

Why not the full 3000 rated RPMs?

The point of the needle isn't set to center. In this example the leading edge of the needle indicates the RPM. It's just a graphic, it doesn't affect performance.

I find it hard to believe HTC uses the leading edge as the pointer.  Very bizarre.
