Two Men Per Tank

Let's put what was a LOT of fun back in the "good old days"; two men per tank.
One guy is the driver, one the gunner.  :aok

The real problem is anyone should feel like they can come to this forum and make a wish without being treated in a derogatory manner.  The only discussion should be centered around whether it would work, or how it would work and so on always in a respectful manner.

Unslave the turret from the commanders view, stick the gunner in the turret, but show both gun-forward and commander's direction of view as different color marks on an indicator.

Also make it so one can man the turret, the other the pintle gun.

Have the driver (the one who spawned in) able to go to any position. Have the gunner (the one who joined) only able to man the gun positions.

IIRC, Lusche posted a chart he made showing that GVs are more popular with players since the change to the new system as opposed to the old GV system.

A tank that can repair in 0 seconds with a box of (insert part needed) dropped close to it is just one step too far away from reality, so is shooting from commanders view.

Yeah, what this game needs is a wrench and an hour to fix something.  ;)

+1 :aok from me, to. I usually can't hit anything beyond 100 yards from the commander's perch anyway. Although I would like to see, if you're going to retain the ability to fire the main gun from the commander's position, a center dot for the aiming circle. Easier to aim that way. Anyone remember from the Warbirds days the option to have gunners in every position? Sometimes for fun our entire squad would man up a couple of B-17s, with five or six gunners per plan. Fun!

Firing from the Commander's position is probably a concession for the lack of periscopes. Without the Commander's view the only view is from the gun. It is also likely compensation for the lack of operational setups like forward directed artillery fire, which was done in the field frequently. I suspect the desire for this to be done away with stems from the view of an aircraft operator wishing to strafe tanks freely and that isn't realistic either.

I do not have a problem with tanks having two crew, but I don't think it is going to happen. The driver positions were dropped to speed up model development (if my memory is correct) and I don't think anything has changed there.

Hope they don't do that with the cockpits, just to speed things up...

Red Orchestra 2 has an excellent solution where you be alone or use all positions, manned or not.
Individual crewmember can die, and you can move surviving crew into different positions within the tank.
Commander can stay unbuttoned or in cupola- looking through periscopes. you can also drive the tank from gunnners position and from commander position.

you will see less main-gunning down planes, since you need to jump to gunners small optics view, if you are not lucky to have enemy plane already in sight there.

Repair should take place at rear areas, or take you chance being gunned down while repairing the tank.

See, this is what you are really after. If you get main gunned then you are doing it wrong. So, what you want is the ability to do it wrong without the possibility of failure. That's not combat, and it is already easy to kill GVs from a plane.
