Tracers
« on: July 22, 2015, 02:28:28 PM »
Different colored tracers. It's been mentioned before. Although different countries had the same color of tracers, there were still various colors.  It should not be to much trouble to add, especially since they are updating the program.
OK. let the abuse begin.

While I think the idea has merit, how would you know it shouldn't be too much trouble? Are you a coad specialist?

In warbirds, the tracers were a small file (maybe jpg).

I would modify mine to a color where they contrasted best on a wide range of terrains.

I believe there might have been two colors......one cannons and one for machine guns on versions up to wb2.77

I wouldn't mind seeing different colored tracers, but it should depend on the nationality of the aircraft and the gun itself; IE I believe many of the Japanese guns used blue or green tracers.

I know enough about programming to know that tracer color would be a pretty easy thing to program.

I am not a coad specialist ( don't even know what it means),but if they can use different skins, program terrains, et al, I should think it would be easy. My humble opinion sir.

Of possibly more relevance to the game would be to assign tracer colors by country (i.e.  Knight, Bishop, or Rook).

Meh. Historically by aircraft nationality and gun.

I don't, I just hate people popping in and thinking that just because they are writing some coad that it's a simple matter to just type a few more lines and volia! we have different color tracers.

It depends on how the coad was written in the first place. I'm sure HTC thought that down the road they would need the ablity to display different skins so coad was added then long before they even worked on any new skins. Tracers, if that wasn't thought about before made need a major rewrite to allow the different colors. It may be pages and pages of coad.

The only thing I was trying to point out is just because it looks like it's a quick fix (change FF0000 to FFFC01) it may be something else all together, don't assume.

In the end it's up to HTC, not you or I.

Why not download the alpha and come into the alpha arenas and try out the tracers in effect? Hitech has tweeked them so they no longer look like 12 ft plasma spears. And at dawn\dusk and night time. OOhh lala.....
