4 grand slam wins in a row with a 40-1 record this year.

She might be a women. But tennis aint easy and you have to win all by yourself.

http://www.sbnation.com/lookit/2015/7/26/9041867/american-sets-world-record-by-competing-in-50-triathlons-in-50-states

Or this guy. I mean he doesn't play in every day sports,  but when you talk about "athlete" this guy is insane!

He is about to or already complete 50 triatho
lons in 50 states in 50 days.

Just look look up how long a triathlon is. And imagine doing it for 50 days while your family travels along with you.

INSANE

Funny thing is, Roger federrer is 33 and still #2 in the world. But he is just too old now. Djokavic is taking names. But he still don't got the rep yet like nadal or Fed.

LeBron James springs to mind.  6'8, 260ish with the speed and hands that many point guards would like to have.  I'd think his athletic talents would transfer pretty well to just about any other sport.

I agree, LeBron James is a great athlete.  His talents would absolutely not transfer to the World MotoGP Motorcycle Championship.  He is too big to effectively use the bodywork of the bike to aid in the aerodynamics necessary for high speed, and motorcycle racing has physics that equates to 4 pounds per horsepower.  For every 4 pounds heavier you and/or your machine is than your competitor you need 1 more horsepower to equal out that increase in weight.  Even this does not factor in the extra wear the extra weight creates on the tires which degrade quickly as the race goes on.

Well yeah.  He wouldn't be a very good horse racing jockey either, but with apologies to any jockeys we have in AH, I don't really consider them athletes... at least not in the classic sense of the word.  I know the sports world has gotten very PC in the last 15 years, but not everyone that competes in a sport is an athlete, IMO.

at least ronaldo can run i wonder if valentino can do that???

I would bet that Rossi runs 5 to 15 miles everyday!   Plus he has to weight train and anaerobic exercises just to stay in condition. As others have said he must continually adapt to changes, not just every year but often from race to race.

The most fit athletes are usually motocross riders, boxers and footballers{soccer},I would add motoGP riders with the motocrossers.

My vote would be Fred Couples......... :devil

That's one of the problems about judging who is best, because it's a lot like apples and oranges. The parameters that make one a successful basketball player don't necessarily translate to other sports. A lot of it is even reliant on body type.

I think one interesting contest is the Ninja Warrior obstacle course, because it tests strength, agility, and short term endurance. But then again, some of the athletes you've mentioned wouldn't get out of stage one, because the course requires some skills, like grip strength, that they don't have. But the course doest test long-term stamina, like soccer or distance running

There are other activities, such as stuntmen, dancing,, parcour, and the like, that require tremendous athleticsm. There were arguments that Rudolph Nereyev was the best athlete of his time.

One name that should be on this list is Bo Jackson, who played simultaneously the NFL and the MLB, and was an all-star at both.

Bruce Jenner.

The question was "best", not "bravest" or "most heroic".  Get it straight!  Er... I mean... nevermind I guess.

What's up Craz07

I would have said something in the other thread, already said enough there and for whatever reason that dude singled me out...I suppose it could have been me singling him out  :rofl

Soon we'll have a fresh season, although I think you guys have dominated for too long, it sure was nice to see the Patriots make Richard Sherman cry; priceless

I know nothing about soccer or motocross sports its seems is being discussed here, but I think Chuck Norris & Christy Brinkley win everything still.
