After crossing Canada, touring German and the Netherlands, Hitchbot only last 12 days in the USA before he is murdered.

The robot was a social experiment.
Now we know that Philadelphians, unlike most of the western world, will not feel empathy for a robot that collects information on your location just because someone put a smiley face on it.
Which only means that Philadelphia will be one of the last cities to fall to the robots (or will it just be targeted first?).
It passed the test.
