Last Dambuster Dies
« on: August 04, 2015, 09:24:16 AM »
The last Dambuster passed away today. Les Munro piloted one of the Lancaster bombers during the raid, but was unable to complete the mission after being damaged by enemy fire. Munro later participated in the misdirection leading up to the Normandy Invasion by dropping aluminum strips to draw German attention away from the actual landing sites.

Hew as 96.

Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

617 Squadron, disbanded in 2014, will live on in history as "the point of the spear" of weapons innovation in World War II and in the willingness and bravery of people like Leonard Cheshire, Guy Gibson, Mick Martin and Les Munro.

"After Me, The Flood!"

Blue skies, Les.
