As hurricanes or Typhoons go it's not to terribly strong. What some people do not understand about Cyclones is that the strongest winds are confined to a small area near the eye wall, the farther you progress from the center the winds decrease rapidly. For example, the 110 knts winds will be 5-7 miles from the center, hurricane force winds will extend out 30-40 miles, and tropical storm force winds 60-80 miles. Anyone here from the plaines states of the U.S will routinely experience winds up to 70 mph during late winter and early spring. Unless you receive a direct direct hit even the strongest of tropical cyclones except cat 5's don't do to much damage unless you live in surge prone area.
