As hurricanes or Typhoons go it's not to terribly strong. What some people do not understand about Cyclones is that the strongest winds are confined to a small area near the eye wall, the farther you progress from the center the winds decrease rapidly. For example, the 110 knts winds will be 5-7 miles from the center, hurricane force winds will extend out 30-40 miles, and tropical storm force winds 60-80 miles. Anyone here from the plaines states of the U.S will routinely experience winds up to 70 mph during late winter and early spring. Unless you receive a direct direct hit even the strongest of tropical cyclones except cat 5's don't do to much damage unless you live in surge prone area.

I've gone through a few hurricanes they are not as bad, well at least up where I live, as tornadoes, tornadoes will flip mobile homes/truck/cars etc. You do not see that with hurricanes, mostly tree damage

Hurricanes, cyclones, and typhoons are all the same weather phenomenon; we just use different names for these storms in different places. In the Atlantic and Northeast Pacific, the term “hurricane” is used. The same type of disturbance in the Northwest Pacific is called a “typhoon” and “cyclones” occur in the South Pacific and Indian Ocean.

As the article said, its a cat 5 typhoon https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saffir%E2%80%93Simpson_hurricane_wind_scale#Category_5

If it hit a bigger city it can be really bad.

Seem like the storm has lost some strenght, seems to be a strong 2/weak 3 now. Will hit Taiwan in a few hours. Good thing is that it seems to hit the least populated parts, even if Taipei will get a fair share of it.

it's still packing 125 mph winds enough to do serious damage to trees and electrical lines...

this is sustained winds.  mainland storms do not support sustained winds over 70 mph but once in a blue moon over the right topography and it would cause severe damage and life threatening conditions.
