Nvidia Battlebox
« on: August 04, 2015, 09:05:15 PM »
I know that not a lot of people would rush out to buy a ready made 4k capable gaming system, but I thought you might at least be made aware that they exist. I think these will be mainstream in another year, or so, and that the costs will also continue to drop there forward.

Ha! I wouldn't pay that much for Quad M6000s!

I think the Battlebox is closer to reality, but only if you can't build it yourself. Just another sign that 4k is coming.

I think you're off by about $30,000, semp. I don't really understand the language of that page, but it looks like what they are trying to do is merge the business server world with gaming. I guess that's okay if you have the money, but even owning a dual socket MB it's something I wouldn't do just on principle.

I guess rock star types think differently.

The components are listed in red in the bottom section of the page, followed by the parts of the liquid cooling system. And yes, they're merging server world with gaming for more CPU power. "72 simultaneous threads calculating bits" as they say. Four 1TB SSD's in RAID0 just for the operating system and games, another four for files to avoid lack of hard disk space...
