Since the identities of those involved have been somewhat confusing:

Spencer Stone, USAF, injured in the attack
Alek Skarlatos, US National Guard
Anthony Sadler US.
Chris Norman, UK.

All four received the Legion of Honour from France.

I read that the first two to challenge the attacker were French.

The first was just coming out of the bathroom.

The second was a banker who got shoot and wishes to remain anonymous.  A site said that he was going to be awarded the Legion of Honour in a private ceremony later this week.

Again, all of them saved many lives.

(BTW: My wife tells me that in interview she read about the US Airman said he thought that the guy had no weapons training/knowledge and that if he had a lot of people would be dead.  Beside loading a magazine and pointing the gun, the guy apparently did not have much of a clue as to what he was doing.)

Came across this well written piece about the attack and reflections on how the media handled it.

It takes a nimble pen to pull off what I think this did.  For example, here is the opening line to a paragraph within the  piece:

Quote
"At this point the script seemed like a rewrite of the old joke about Omaha Beach: the Americans supplied the blood and France provided the sand. "

Good writing IMO.

(BTW, the only reference that may trip up non-English readers is one to Newsnight.  Just think Nightline.  (If you are under, I guess, 25, just use the Google).

I think the lesson of this incident is when ever your in a incident with a nutcase like this is to beat the kak out of him until he is nearly dead. :old:

And then have a cup of tea with may be a bourbon or custard cream :old:

I think this a difficult decision to take.

I find it hard to choose between a custard cream and a bourbon

At first I was not sure if you're serious - then I checked some US news sites and realized it was another case of US media navel-gazing. There seems to be hardly any news of the migrant/refugee crisis in Europe at the moment. I suggest you google it.

Migrant crisis :rofl

It took 30 years to organise :rofl

Why do you think the Ukraine is being allowed in the EU for their culture :rofl

(Why! Think out of the box if you can)

Well the President of France just presented them all with the Legion d'Honneur. I wonder can US servicemen wear medal ribbons from a foreign country on their uniforms?

Just so you know it is allowed to be worn and displayed on military uniforms... so I hope that answers your question sir...

You have to forgive zack. He played part in the great pie fight from dr. strangelove and took a pie to the head. He hasnt been quite right since then. In fact, he goes on about how Communist pies are infiltrating Britain and sapping the brits of their bodily fluids
