@ semp: Was that some kind of Google translator Spanish, or was it in an entirely different language like French or Portuguese? Or just a different version of Spanish, like Latin American vs. European Spanish?

no it was spanish alright but it was so badly translated that it was really hard to understand.  a few of the questions were asking what the picture on the right meant, but there was no picture.  when I pointed it out, the guy said I would still have to answer it correctly.

I see. People speaking Spanish appear to be visually impaired since they can't tell what's on the picture. Or is it just that in traffic there's no pictures either?

Ah but sys a 4 way stop is not a traffic light!

True, a 4 way stop is not a traffic light, but it is a traffic semaphore.

A person directing traffic at an intersection is also a traffic semaphore.  And it was interesting to see the results of traffic flow with a person directing traffic within the MythBusters segment.  It would have been interesting to see a test using traffic lights within their piece, but they didn’t do it.  My guess is that they view a four-way stop as an alternative to the European roundabout and not traffic lights.

I guess the question they are answering is what, if any, are the opportunity costs of using a 4 way stop vs. a roundabout.

Given the incredible amount of traffic we all seem to face, it would interesting to know, at least in theory, if one solution is substantially better than another.

We have lots of round-a-bouts/rotaries here in New England and for the most parts have no issues driving through them.... be it a bit fast and aggressive, it is New England after all, but I have NEVER seen anyone back through one.

They are becoming more common down here in Charlotte.  My favorite story was back in
NJ though.  On Rte 46 they have a large circle in Netcong.  One night I was coming home from
work about 23:30 when I noticed a sedan going around counter clockwise against <fortunately
light> traffic that time of night.  That was bad enough, then the moron proceeded to drive the
wrong way back up Rt 202 towards the Rt 80 interstate off ramp.

I could only imagine what would have happened if someone exited at interstate speeds for
the headon.

Go google "Swindon Magic roundabout"

Yep, just did that.  It has been voted into any number of 10 'worst intersections in England'

And I was surprised to find another one: Magic Roundabout (Hemel Hempstead)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magic_Roundabout_(Hemel_Hempstead)

I thought that this was interesting:  (Brits need to make up their minds).
Quote
Constructed in 1973, the "Magic Roundabout" in Hemel Hempstead was voted the UK's second-worst roundabout in a 2005 poll held by an insurance company (the winner being its Swindon counterpart).[1]

In 2011 the roundabout was voted the best in Britain by motorists in a competition organised by a car leasing service.[2]

Not to speak for Milo but he's a canuk like me,we live in same province but are about the size of texas apart..... :devil<snip>

So in Canada, traffic on the freeway/expressway has to yield to traffic entering it.  That is interesting.  Are the entrance ramps really short?  I could see that being why it would be that way.

Yes. Thank God I was a brunette before Gillette got the hold on me.

Oh, and just for clarification, I didn't mean that I would think that way, instead the license authorities seem to do so based on the evidence.
