Fear the Walking Dead

Anyone else watch it? I thought it was pretty good. Certainly had potential, but could easily see them turning it into The Walking Dead-lite.

I found it to be way too slow and somewhat disappointing.  It also doesn't seem very consistent with how the original started out.  In the original, the people had to catch the disease and have it run it's course (for a day or two) to become zombies.  In this one you have people more or less being human in one scene and zombie in the next.  But yeah I'm nitpicking a show about zombies shame on me.

I feel like it will pick up the pace here in the next few episodes. I got the feeling that this was very much an "introduce characters, establish their relationship" episode, not necessarily what the show will be like.

As for the zombies, remember that they've said on TWD that after someone dies, it takes only like half an hour for them to turn. But I would agree that they didn't do a great job at clarifying passage of time.

According to the pre show stuff I have seen, the first few shows is building the story.

Don't be surprised that in a couple years, they can merge the show and find each other (at least any survivors...)

I think they can expand on it in major ways moving forward.

I saw it last night and it was a tad slow but was good.  And I am sure it will get better as things start to pick up.

I think the new show has potential but I didn't expect the first episode to really be all that exciting either. I figure the start of the zombie epidemic would be bit slow and the masses of folks living in the big city would be pretty darn hard to convince at first. Once the zombies start grouping up things ought to get more intense. I thought the bit with the "youtube" and phone video sharing was pretty good. I could see that happening very easily today.

I thought it was alright.  I'm glad they opened with a walker in the first sequence, I was wondering if this series would be a long drawn out affair of sub plot and story/world building prior to seeing anything so far as the plague beginning, but they didn't disappoint in this regard.

One scene I really liked was one the school buses were pulling away, and that "I told you so" look the kid flashed his teacher, and her reaction.

Considering the WD is the largest show in TV in terms of $ and ratings, I think it's nearly impossible for off shoot series like this to fail, and if nothing else, will give fans something to watch in the off season of the main show if they stagger it a little more next year.

I'm looking forward to seeing how they frame a city the size of LA coming apart.

I heard that this was the "West Coast" version of The Walking Dead, so I assume that this storyline takes place in the same universe as the other series? Just curious.

Takes place in LA. It's set in the same universe, and everything seen can be considered canon. Same producers, later on when you get to the big zombie scenes, likely some of the same crew as well.

I gotta say, it sucked.  took me 3 days to watch it as I kept falling asleep.  gonna be the same as the walking dead where it just drags on and on for several episodes just to show some A-Team shoot out where nobody gets hurt.  like in the walking dead and the confrontation with the governor, all that fire power with automatic weapons (semi?), hundreds of rounds fired and 1 guy gets hurt when he trips as he's running away.
