One big advantage a P-38 has is the reds get fixated on what they assume is an easy kill. That is what seems to happen in the film.
I am surprised Lefty did not get a kill on you. He is pretty good stick. A little throttle control on his part and we not be seeing this film.
Hah yeah, most people don't think the big ole P38 is going to pull a maverick overshoot on them, especially when they are in better turning planes. The P38 can pull a great overshoot on a BRD. Notice how I also attempted to get the plane horizontal to them so they would have a hard time shooting me. I also recognized their speed from the beginning.
Yeah, I can't believe I survived that one over shoot, had my eyes closed.
It was a death wish to turn back into him there for the merge. I was missing a left aileron and left rudder, which made the plane very hard to control. I was surprised I cought em on the emillman merge, but you can see it was a lack of experience on their part. That 38 does a nasty emillman in the vert which catches a lot of people off guard.
