Mustang Markings Question
« on: August 29, 2015, 01:33:03 PM »
Is there any source for all the lettering that is on a "D" Mustang?   The stuff on the left side of the nose.   The STEP HERE or NO STEP markings.   Anything like that.

Also, regarding the stenciling on the left side of the fuselage, was that on every airplane or were they sometimes removed?

I am making a pass on my skins to correct mistakes and want to add all the stuff I didn't put in the first time through.    All help is appreciated in advance.

Plenty of books out there if you are looking for the Data block or other stencil info.  Most model kits have good detail diagrams too.

Awesome guys.  Thanks!  :)

Were these markings on every Mustang or do we have examples where they were removed in the field?

Lots of times they disappeared in the course of use in the field.  It all depends on the bird you are doing.

This one.

I don't see a lot of markings but maybe that's the result of the relatively bad photo quality.
