So the trucks are getting heavier which imparts more energy in a crash to the other car involved.

700 pounds lighter, at least mine is.  New aluminum body reduced the weight of the truck so much Ford was able to add additional support to the frame that they wanted to add in the past but the trucks were too heavy.

New to tests?  Nope.  Just attempting to make a humorous point about measured and controlled testing and standardized ratings against the real world condition of a truck vs prius.  I can see how you missed that ;)
Fair enough, however it is jumping from one extreme to another, sure it isn't every day that you auger into the corner of a brick building at 40mph, but the prius is just one car of many on the road. You could probably piss on a prius and it would fall apart. :D Fortunately for truck owners, it seems there are many more cars and crossovers on the road due to MPG than there are large SUV's and trucks.

How about you guys just avoid the collision!!  Then no one gets hurt right?

OOOOHHHH  That's right, you are AH players and avoiding the collision is up to the other guy...better get ready by buying big!!!

Dumb F^%Ks.......OOOhhh did I say that out loud?   BUT, the real question is, did you pick up on the issue that you think bigger protection is key.  At no point did anyone mention accident prevention!!

See....."HE RAMMED ME!!!!"

<sigh> actually - you both went head to head - but you were stupid enough to think you were in your "insert large truck of choice here" and deserved to win the head on.

I know..preaching to the deaf...but some of them might read  :P

If the prius comes across the line, like I described, you bet your butt I not only deserve to win but intend to.  :)  I've been driving since I was 16, I'm 52, not a single accident, speeding ticket, not so much as a parking ticket.  Yep, I do prevention.  I drive to prevent accidents, and prevent myself from getting hurt by someone less than effective at it.  Stupid?  Hmm.  Guess we all have different ideas of what might be considered stupid.
