Supply Perks
« on: September 22, 2015, 04:46:28 PM »
Please make it worth more perks to resupply bases/strats.

Lets say the strat is down for 80min, which happens quite often. To resupply a strat that is a short flight takes 10 min to get there. your resupply takes 3 min off the time. so now were down to 67 min. If you bail out after resupplying, you get 3 perks, or you can fly back another 10 min to get an extra .75 perks.

So, 10 min flight plus 3 min downtime reduced equals 67 min left. perks earned, 3.

At this rate, it will take 50min to bring the downtime to 15 min. which still give you enough time to make one more run.

60 mins of flight time will bring it down to 2 mins downtime left and all you have earned is 18 perks.

I dont think that the 60 mins of goon flight is worth only 18 perks.

18 perks/hour without any risk involved is actually quite a good rate. Many players would struggle to consistently get that many with combat sorties. And I firmly believe non combat activity should offer less reward than combat (or at least potentially hostile) ones.
Furtheremore, as I log all my 'bomber' sorties I can state that on most maps the distance to most strats is less than 10 minutes, there are only a few exceptions (most notably on tagma)

Personally, id rather spend my hour in some kind of combat vs a goon flight. My current perks/hour is just over 12 for this tour which isn't that bad. It is a pain to spend 60min of resupplying to bring strats back up just so one person can put it back down for another 100+ min. Even if it was just bumped up to 5 perks a sortie it would be better.

This would also help encourage more players to resupply.

It is actualy quite good, way above average.

With so few players online and so little combat around these days I would want to see the non-combat activities even further increased. Already wondering why so many players seem to prefer tedious resupping over trying to mount a defense...

I prefer to up a 152 for strat defense, but usually when i log in the strats are already hit and usually hit pretty good. I usually log on around 3pm eastern time (-5 GMT) and the player numbers are low. Its hard to find action sometimes even if you try and stir something up. I usually end up trying to get the strats back up to some decent level so when our radar/ords are hit they dont go down for what seems like forever.

I think that if the perk reward was bumped up a little, it would help encourage others to resupply bases/strats.

Each box reduces downtime by 4 minutes, not 3.  So it is every so slightly less futile than you calculated.

And I am sure many people would prefer I up to defend rather than resupply; in other words, they would like me to spend the better part of a week climbing to 38K so that their B29s can vaporize me in about a picosecond.  That is apparently supposed to be fun.

10 perks if you can fly a C47 into a capped field, drop your box or land, and the box supplies the field before you are terminated. 20 perks if you get a successful towering after your supply box resupplies the field or escape to land at another base. Hitech would have to put an alt cap on that one.

I've witnessed crabby make fighters auger and even cause them to run away to their ack flying only a C47. I witnessed Fester alone drive fighters nuts by out maneuvering them and surviving. The friendlies who showed up and shot them down did them a kindness. Spits should not be out maneuvered by C47s in any universe.

I used to have a video of being awarded three proxies on 262s while flying a goon. A lot of people that fly the deuce do not know what they are doing. The problem is, AH is set up to award perks based on damage, not how well you avoid getting shot.

It would not hurt anything if the perks increased for dropping supplies on a flashing base, or strat. Sure, most of the time it is a bomber at high altitude, but there are many instances where it is a fighter, or even an A-20.

The whole concept of "avoiding combat" or "risk avoidance" is fallacious as often as it is accurate. While what we have is good, it could still use an adjustment.
If you like the Sick Puppy Custom Sound Pack the please consider contributing for future updates by sending a months dues to Hitech Creations for account "Chalenge." Every little bit helps.

Easy? No.
I used global and individual killstats and (most particular) the achievements data, back when it was only a few months old. Cross checked with my hundreds of my own bomber sorties of all kinds, which I do log in detail.

The way i keep up with mine is a google docs spreadsheet. Everyday that i fly, when i go to log off, i note down my perks and enter them into the spread sheet. The spread sheet will then calculate how many i earned that day for each category.

Here is a screenshot of what it looks like:

Don't know what's worse, these kinds of spread sheets kept for a kiddy game, or that I have a copy of every single gunsight I've made for this game in the last 13 years. Boy did I used to make some real winners a long time ago. :noid

Why not?

I just find it interesting to know how many perks I gain/lose each day.
