Actually, the change was very significant IMO. When the 3D model was upgraded, the new flight model was done from scratch. It became faster and the slower roll rate significantly reduced its ability to change directions.

Perhaps you are thinking of one of the new Hurri II variants?  The Hurri I is unchanged in performance, so far as I can tell.  Flew it again tonight to be sure.

In solidarity with BaldEagl, I'm going for a kill in every fighter in November.  :salute

I don't fly as much as in the past, but what the heck.

Now, we need to get Lusche/Snailman to shave his head ...

Hey now, I didn't say I was going to get a kill in every plane, only that I'd fly three sorties in each and do the best I can (excluding timidity).

As little as I've been playing I have to set a low bar.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

Both Hurricane variants had their flight models totally redone. For example Hurricane Mk.I's top speed on WEP was well below 270mph on the deck before the update, current speed is almost 280mph. Also for example the roll acceleration got noticeably slower.

Guess we'll just disagree on this.

Guess we'll just disagree on this.

It really isn't a matter of 'opinion'. It is a simple fact that the Hurricane Mk.I's flight model changed along the Mk.II.

Hurricane speeds before the flight models were changed:

Hurricane speeds after the flight models were changed:

Still too hard to believe?

Still too hard to understand?

Heh.  You are as genial as ever.

If these charts are accurate, the Hurri I gained just a bit of speed, but the speed curve remains roughly the same as before (hence my interest in who did the testing).  One might therefore surmise that the Hurri I would perform marginally better than it did before, not worse, which you suggested.

Whether the plane goes 260 or 275 mph doesn't much matter, because speed was never the Hurri I's strength and virtually all other planes go faster.  I haven't noticed any change in the way it handles.  Flew it again tonight to test the thought.

Now the Hurri II variants, sadly they are pigs.

Heh.  You are as genial as ever.

Considering your comments in the MA last night as you were "testing" the Hurricane, the above comment from me was more than justified. At first you announced out loud how you were testing because of "your a disagreement with a Finn" on ch200. I mean, what is the need to yap your trap like that? Too hard to just fly the plane? Your last comment on ch200 word to word: "Finn guy loses, the Hurri I is its old self still". Seriously, what does my nationality have anything to do with the issue at hand??

(hence my interest in who did the testing).

Who did what testing?? The data in the performance charts are a straight products from the flight model engine. There is no testing involved.

One might therefore surmise that the Hurri I would perform marginally better than it did before, not worse, which you suggested.

Nowhere have I claimed that "the performance" as a whole of the Hurricane is worse or better. I said that the flight model has changed while you claimed that only the Hurricane IIs changed.

Whether the plane goes 260 or 275 mph doesn't much matter,

~15mph is a big leap in performance for a WWII fighter and therefore a big change in the flight model. That is what the original argument was about.

The initial roll rate on the 'new' Hurricane I is about 50% slower than with the old version. This alone is a very significant change. The new Hurri I is now quite a different ride.

It's my imagination, then, which is probably not suprising.  I bow to Lusche's opinion, which I consider to be disinterested and authoritative.

WMaker, I apologize to you - and to anyone else, for that matter - for offending you with my comments.  They were not intended to disparage the Finns in general, who have held a special place in AH for many years, but nevertheless were out of place.

And I regret hijacking BaldEagl's thread.  I'll shut up now.

No, no no.

Never take me as an authority on flight models in AH. On game mechanics, possibly - but never flight performance or modeling. For 'authority' status on that topic, you have to look at a few  different guys.
