I still have some minor warping and when if I'm in a large populated area the problem intensifies.

One thing that comes into mind is that Windows 10 records what you're doing and sends that information to Microsoft, as well as downloads and installs updates in the background, neither of which you can turn off. Not to mention other background activity you might have, like automatic update checking for Adobe Reader and FlashPlayer, Java etc. And further, not to mention the automatic daily (!!!) update check for your peripherals like printers. Yes, daily may be the default setting in those.  :furious

Pudgie may also have a point regarding the SoundBlaster Z: http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,375532.msg5004665.html#msg5004665

I don't give a hoot what performance gains might be had but because of all that crap Win10 won't be happening on my machines. Eventually it may come to our having no choice but I'll be holding out til the last.

I had the same issue prior to Windows 10. I'm leaning towards a hardware problem. I have switched video cards several times.  I have done numerous other things as well.

In Windows 10 you can turn off some monitoring and then there is always task manager. Now it may be that there are too many processes running in the back ground.

If so that is what I'm to find out.

I don't know what the minimum for process count should be in Win 10, or even 8. On my Win7 I have about 32 running, a couple of which I manually shut down before starting AH.

A lot of background clutter can be eliminated by carefully going through the settings of each and every program you've installed and opting out their automatic update checks. I already mentioned Adobe and Java, but there's lots more, some of which seem very strange. For example, I really can't understand what a customer survey program for a multifunctional printer actually does. "Programs and Features" is another place to look at when trying to lean and clean your machine.

And of course the optimal way would be to do a custom install for everything and opt out everything unwanted right from the start.

I may have fixed it. The settings had the power going off at 10 minutes. I think Skuzzy said a long time ago that the computer will think it's time to shut down while playing the game. Guess what, my stick stayed calibrated. I didn't see any warping whatsoever. Hope that's the cure.

Windows Power Options? Of course! It's in a battery saving reduced performance ("Balanced") mode by default even on desktops without batteries! I can understand it's not a bug, the installation media being the same for all types of PC's. Yet it very seldom pops up in the tweaking instructions.

Thus, for those who don't know it: Control Panel->(Hardware and Sound)->Power Options->Show Additional Plans: Choose High Performance, set the options according to your wishes. Pictorial e.g. here: https://www.energystar.gov/index.cfm?c=power_mgt.pr_power_mgt_manual_act_win7
