« on: November 23, 2015, 07:52:24 PM »
MY TRY AT LEARNING TO MODEL AIRCRAFT. 1ST TRY EVER.

I'd luv to design my own game, but I have realized that 1 guy ain't doing chit. Requires a team of dedicated peeps. Hell with my lack of training, I should not have been able to get thiss........

oops you would be incorrect. P40, e, f or n. seems the front end design is what classifies them as which model they are, as well as the guns package and the canopy design. So much to learn that for now I cut corners about specifics.

animation is next step, but since I 'm learning here I will be a little slow at proof of pudding. he he
gonna use the Unity platform to fly plane in. That's another huge piece of software to learn.

What did you use to create the plane?

I feel the same way, MADe. That's why I'm learning code.

Good luck with your progress :aok

We've added custom static aircraft models to terrains before.  If you finish it & learn the AC3D hierarchy tree for AH, we can add it onto a terrain.  Makes the airfields look more realistic. :salute

looking for tutorials I ran into this......................... .........oops

right now I am learning Blender 2.76 to model objects, ie: planes
Blender objects can be used in the Unity gaming platform.
Unity has had an add-on developed that's for realistic flight parameters. Unity also has add-ons for game environments to use the stuff for flight sims.

I have no formal training just hunt and pecking till I get it. I have been waiting for software to be developed that requires no coding skills, it is coming out now. I know that coding will be needed but If I can get to a certain point maybe I can attract some outside help.

I flew FA for 10 years, now I fly AH. To be honest I hate the map win scenarios. They got old real quick and of course the devs have there own agenda's and mine is different. I brought this up before and was flamed but I do not care. I want to fly a game where your squad can plant a flag on captured bases and be allowed to capture different planes to fly, GV's to drive. I have always felt AH and FA was a little wrong by allowing all models of planes available from the get go.
In short I could care less about capturing maps, I want to capture better tech to fly and battle with. I want squads to be able to fly there own skins, I want pilots to be able to use there own noseart. I'm into having players make an investment in their own gameplay.

I kind of understand why the FA and AH devs made there choices but its a new era in computing. The hardware available now is a million years ahead of what was available when these games were developed. It is because of their fantastic efforts that I want to contribute to this specific genre of game.

My chances are probably nil but WTF, spent my life pulling off little tidbits that others told me I could not..............I did not even know how to turn on a pc till over age 45, now I build my own pc's, could skin a plane, make my own noseart...................... ..................full scale stick, rudder and throttle gear to fly games.

I will look into AC3D after I get farther along, I'm doing things that peeps got college degrees for. I have a BFA and a Associate degree myself but its in another fields of endeavor.

cool this is very good to know. I would be more than happy to make objects for AH in order to learn whats needed for my personal ends. Once I get a better handle on blender.
Can I assume that animations from blender will work in AH? How far do I build an object in blender that can be used.
maybe a small hint as to whats needed to get an object ready for AH ............................. ...ie: animations, rigging, collision boxes, and of course how to use it with  flight gear.

ty for any intel

Very interesting. I just picked up unity today to play with over the winter for non flight sim reasons. Looks like something to do over the winter. I'll check out blender too. I have a programming background (it's what I do for a living) but I'm not artistic at all.

seems to me your attitude will lead to your success no matter what anyone else thinks  or what your background is.  I'm all self taught as well. Pretty sure you can do anything you set your mind to.  :aok
