Open Ace Question - The Squelch...
« on: December 14, 2015, 02:22:23 PM »
So, when I squelch an Open Ace Ace, does the Open Ace know I've squelched them? Or is the Open Ace blissfully ignorant?

i'm just wondering, because, for the first time ever, I've had to squelch an annoying ignoramus who wanted me - no lie - to carry water for him to call out one of my chess-piece teamies. I didn't actually know to whom he was referring ( he called the guy out by aircraft type in a PM to me, and the call out was pretty rich, given what this moron rides - read ezmode), but, suffice it to say, the Rubber Lizard don't play dat.

I was half-tempted to report the bunghole, but, hey... first offense (or maybe 1.5).

I ask just to know. I'm trying to avoid a vendetta, if possible, also because the Rubber Lizard, when he's not referring to himself third person, don't play dat either, preferring a lower profile.

They are not aware unless they try to PM you after you've squelched them.

I'm of the opinion squelch early, squelch often if someone's getting on your nerves.  It's a great tool to improve your gameplay experience.

Thanks, W. Agreed on that last... Generally, my gameplay experience has been pretty pleasant, but then, I'm lucky to get 3 or 4 hours a week. I neither have time for AH nor for Open Aces-in-the-hole, as this dude is/was. He got a kill on me and consequently appears to think I'm his gateway to trash-talking other knights.

So, subsequent attempts, apparently, will send him looking for another handle. That's all good.

Some people seem to think the relative anonymity of the internet entitles them to act like idiots. Face-to-face, not so much, i'd guess... but, as Arthur C. Clarke reminds, a difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has limits.

Okay, nothing else to see here, folks...

ja the same team yap is really starting to bother me.

Some peeps really know how to spoil gameplay for all, with their incessant team player jabs, whines and back stabbing. The drunks are obvious, never know when to let it go........................... .........

Well done PJ.  I have had similar requests and notifications of enemy activity.  I always tell the sender, never ask me about and or share that type of info again.  Then squelch.  This game is at it's best when the fog setting is at it's greatest.

I've have asked the Bish on 200 where Skyyr is in the past. No need now.  :devil

I used to squelch Midway all the time, made my gameplay experience much better. In truth I am sure I been squelched many more times myself, but they are all team mates tired of my ranting and whining on Range.  :P

Squelch is very powerful...use it often.  :salute

I personally don't give out the names of other players who has been upset by another for what ever ego driven reason they have...I will always ask why they want to know and if it is for malicious reasons I just chat back and forth to the person to try calm it down....I think from memory I have had only one instance where the person was just a total tool and I told them so... I will always let the person know they were asked for however...that way they can choose to PM themselves or let me tell them.

I personally don't squelch.... no point to it for me.... water of a ducks back most of the time

Squelch early and squelch often I say as Wiley stated, especially those who use the 'help channel' for chat purposes. Remember this is a combat simulator, so a guy named Godzilla should have no qualms about offending any one or telling them to shut the pie hole...ya' little geko'

Did I mention that I got Skyyr's side of the whole ban story?  What's been portrayed isn't exactly what happened.

With all due respect, I don't believe that story needs to come out here.

Dale has canceled PNGs before.  It is possible we don't have the full story.  If the guy was unfairly blamed I know the decision will be reversed if appealed.

Cool your jets.

I have no dog in this fight.    In any event, I don't know what happened and neither do you.
