Anyone here using Saitek X-65F force-sensing joystick?

I wonder if you guys find it weird using force-sensing stick...

I'm really drawn to this because of potential reliability.

I only found out about this Saitek joystick because I googled F-16 flightstick...

here's a short clip

They are soft in my hands. Warthog or CH all the way.

Well seeing the 65 is a force sensing stick and doesn't move at all I'm guessing it wouldn't be "soft in your hands".  :neener:

I would suggest that anyone wanting an X65 go and read the saitek forum.  There are several known issues with this stick, such as axis reversing.

  YMMV!

I have an X65, got it quite a while after it was released.  IMO the absolute worst choice for AH out there.  I'd even use a mouse like Lazer before I used it.  It is a neat idea for a PC Hotas, same sort of idea as the F16's side stick control, and it can be "OK" with jet sims where such precision for shooting guns so often isn't quite as necessary as with Aces High.  With said precision an absolute requirement to make shots in this game, the X65 just doesn't offer this IMO, no matter how much you mess with stick settings, curves, dead zones, and the like.  It's just too difficult to make small precise corrections with the stick for lining up shots.  Also your hand gets tired fast applying constant pressure to the thing I've found.

It does look great though, hah.  Considering how much they still cost, get a Saitek X55 and a set of new pedals with the $ instead.  Also as Morf said, there are some pretty common issues with it, and getting Saitek to actually do something about it is an exercise in frustration.

I wouldn't worry either way really, trying to find one now is pretty difficult, unless you fall into one from a friend or something.  They aren't available new anywhere I've seen or come up used for sale often either - mind you I haven't gone searching recently, but I can't remember the last time I saw one available for sale anywhere.

There is a new X65 "based" HOTAS otw from Madcatz/Saitek, but it's a Star Citizen based venture, and doesn't use force sensing at all, at least I don't think it does.
