I mostly fly the A5, though the Dora at times. The A8 has the same power as the A5 though weighs a few hundred pounds more. This means the A8 is a fat, younger sister to the A5. The only reason to fly the A8 is if you're buff hunting. It has an awesome gun package.
The Dora is longer than the A5, which means the A5 is a better turner, stalls less, etc. Both of them are a bit awkward doing tail slides, though doable. Contrary to what many will say, use the flaps in both birds. They are solid stall fighters. Many planes are better in the stall though most pilots don't know how to stall fight. You learn it in the Fw and you will have an advantage on 90% of the sticks in game.
The Latrobe video has the basics right. Add to this the advice that Pervert gave me several years back: If you want to learn how to fight the Fw you need to plan on being killed a few thousand times.
Side note, though you didn't ask, the Fw was designed for speed/slash attacks. Kurt Tank didn't imagine the Fw stall fighting but instead keeping up speed, zipping through the fight, make a hard 2-3 second shot and then blow through.
Best of luck joining the Butcher Bird Mafia!
