Sounds like a split S, invert, nose down relative, throttle back, pull back use trim to fine tune, in the 190 use a bit of slip/rudder , half way through throttle up.

What your referring to is what some of us call a tail slide. Something you don't see very often in the MA.

Some of you are incorrectly calling it a "tail slide", which the maneuver being described by Kimosabe is definitely not a tail slide.

Well what's it called then, hammerhead stall?

Kemosabe, are you saying north and south as slang for up and down or a 180 heading change?

This is what a tailslide maneuver looks like.

I'd have to watch his film, could be a hammerhead he was referring to but the description from the OP doesn't sound like a Hammerhead.

What's called a hammerhead turn in the US is called a stall turn in the UK. US pilots flying for the British in WW2 refer to stall turns.

From Latrobe a few years back
Is this what your referring to?

Useful. Thank you. Guys like me need counsel like that, even if I wish I could "un-see" the chimp feet.  :frown:

In any case, I'm grateful Latrobe made that and will be looking to try it out.
