well maybe we'll have to start Tuesday night torture in the AVA! as opposed to Monday night madness in the midwar...

The AVA is different. We try to make it more realistic. most people that spend time in the AVA find they are better in the MA's after.
it boils down to a matter of choice and numbers. no one goes in if there are no numbers.

no one likes to fly alone. maybe the AvA could be made slightly more attractive, brought slightly towards the ma but retain what it is to be AvA. I could do without Icons, but zero players is an arena killer.
I could imagine that campaigns in AvA, with numbers, would be very fun.
The MA leaves a lot for the player and squad to chose from, maybe its slightly to much. Its obviously meant for non squad play but war is a team sport........................ ......so much arguing and cajoling to get missions going........................ ............argh too much back and forth jibber jabber that it distracts....................

Indeed.  I for one am growing tired of these clowns who encourage people to quit.  Kris has a valid (if not misinformed) gripe.  How about instead of jumping on the elohttuB bandwagon so common on the inTARDnet, offer some kind of help.

Kris, I would guess you're lurking.  Hope so.  Anyway, never mind the idiots among us.  A single country getting ganged really is nothing new.  Do a search WAY WAY back and you'll find me griping about the same thing.  It's cyclic.  I will roll back to your favor.  But the real message is, you make the game fun when you're on.  Take a break, and come back.
I would say more of misguided than misinformed. KK (and most other armchair generals) have built up a reputation of being grief givers. They push to the edge of the parameters of the game and use it to their advantage for no other use than themselves and to "crush" their opponents, throwing honor out the window. I can remember plenty of times seeing the same folks that are griping about the same subject. They have no qualms to take down HQ, horde undefended bases and yes, KK has been spotted many times switching sides to move strat factories( when they moved if you took certain fields) and sink CVs from no where.
If this is the game you play, so be it. Play the game you want, however only you can choose to be in the status of "being a dick" or not. Complaining about it when it happens to you is just silly.

I have been playing since 05 and been through a few thousand maps, I could care less who wins. Although I don't "like" to be shot down, horded or blinded, its part of the game. If things get too tough, just log and take a break, we all have good days and bad days.

If you guys are so worried about numbers dwindling, teach the new guys how to deal with the bad days. Teach them to up from another base and make the best of a situation instead of complaining about it on country or 200 and making the game look bad. No matter how big the horde, you will ALLWAYS have a base to take off on and we will ALLWAYS have a map to play in. The young generation is all about instant gratification and this game takes a lot of patience to learn and somewhat master and that to me is the only reason why most choose to quit.

What a lot of us don't realize with the AvA is , We can set up the arena for any squad or group that want to practice, hold squad nights or anything. We get one squad or at least three people in and players will come in. I have seen this happen. All of us on the staff are willing to help out. We are easy to approach and will be happy to give you a certain plane set. Just contact one of us and we can do something..

peeps are generally lazy, many do not want to get along. This is why the MA is the popular one. Things have been designed for simplicity and ease of use and jibber jabber.
The AvA is a lot more work for less reward in many peeps minds. What makes AvA what it is, is that next step at realism when it comes to air combat.
Real combat in ww2 did not have icons, or texting. Lets face it as well, real flying is prolly boring as hell except for those moments of abject fear. The MA gets to the meat of the matter faster. You can mission up or just furball, MA is good for furball'in.

You just gotta have fun! If its not fun, most will go away. Its on the players to make it fun, NOT AH!
AH provides the bat, the balls, the field, what we choose to do with these implements is on us. So if you fly alone, join a squad, if you spend most of your time driving others, stop, drive yourself. And most important is that every current player, should recruit a new player, just 1......

I was just making a joke  :D

I love the AvA, the no Icons, the plane match-ups, and the fights that go on in there. They are all fairly matched and very fun, plus the action is quick and people can't often just run away.

IMO, its more for the advanced crowd though.
It's a great learning experience and really helps you judge distance.

I certainly wish more people would fly in the AvA but the sole reason is that people automatically go to the MA because of #s to fight and or rank.

I think there needs to be minimum of 8 to 10 people in there at all times and you will start to see more people click on the AvA instead and make it more popular. I don't know how to make that happen, but there has got to be a battle in there to attract people.

Thursday nights when Waystin was an AvA CM he would promise numbers to shoot at on the garbage ride side. 4-8 of us pigs would show up to be his numbers. And people showed up to fly the good rides and crap on us for the obvious disadvantage we flew with. It was only for Waystin that we piggies agreed to take that crapola. The MA is more popular because of the illusion many buy into that they can fly the good rides 24x7 and stand a better chance of...whatever. One of the reasons ENY is resented. The AvA can be very rude to the casual player in a DA sort of way, while the MA has better odds of being able to save ones ego with speed or power.

The AvA has always seemed more of an unstructured dueling arena with unequal rides where you always seem to be asked to balance sides by going to the less equal ride side if you show up late. Waystin had a good sense of things by promising numbers on the less equal ride side as one CM's answer to getting numbers into the AvA once a week.

An entire week of fighting 2 countries, who won't fight each other is getting old, so I wish you all farewell after this weekend is up.

I even tried switching to nits this week to try and invoke a rook/nit fight.
Porked AA to 0%, white-flagged a town and 2 v-bases, but could not get a single nit to assist in taking a rook field.
"We're not fighting rooks" was the nit reply.

AH unresponsive to requests to scrub/repair maps with undefendable strats.
AH unresponsive to bringing back a map everyone liked.

Good bye.

I would wish you well, but you didn't leave. Another case of the whiners crying "change or I am leaving". You sir are why Santa carries coal.
Your HQ tears are my fuel

-Starting a profile with your E-mail address while trying to make fun of someone is not a good idea. You will end up with a "V" in front of your name, and we all know only idiots have "V's" in front of their names. (you can't ever change your profile name)

This is getting real old, real fast. This game has turned to junk and is not improving. 2 countries attack 1 country ruining gameplay for 1/3 of the player base. HTC gives 0% care about it. The only recourse is to quit funding this trainwreck.

Or you could cry about your picture on a forum, threaten legal action, then quit... Why not just skip the middle man?
