RIP William Overstreet.
« on: January 04, 2016, 11:50:53 PM »
William Overstreet passed away at the age of 92. In 1944 while in a dogfight over Paris France with a ME-109 he chased his opponent down over the roof tops and flew under the Eiffel Tower and ultimately shot his opponent down. Hundreds of shocked Parisians saw it and couldn't believe their eyes.

And oh yeah he managed to down another Me-109 with a mustang armed only with Vodka.

Not to take away from your post, but he passed in 2013.

Thanks for posting. It's a great story I enjoyed reading again.

This story is so metal, I don't know where to begin. Both pilots did the equivalent of flying through an AH hanger IN REAL LIFE. I would love to know who the 109 pilot was, a move like that does not seem like a novice pilot move. At this point in the war it was probably 20 v 1 in front line fighter ability. He died a noble death for a terrible ideology.

As hard as you may find it to believe playing this game has given me a new respect for the axis pilots. Growing up the grandchild of 2 WW2 combat vets, I hated everything axis. Years of playing this game opened my eyes to the fact that there were good and bad men on both sides. Almost all were selflessly just doing their duty and dying for it.  :salute

-Starting a profile with your E-mail address while trying to make fun of someone is not a good idea. You will end up with a "V" in front of your name, and we all know only idiots have "V's" in front of their names. (you can't ever change your profile name)
