Bring Back Trinity
« on: January 27, 2016, 01:49:41 PM »
Now that we have a one week timer on map resets why not bring it back. Even it gets dropped back to 5 days for that map it'd be worth it to have that map back. Trinity was hands down the greatest map we had for tanking with the narrow canyon in the south and the 187 spawn battle in the north.

It would be more inviting to less than 300 players a night if the mountain ranges were mowed down to 12,500ft with the highest peaks down from 27k to 17k. Along with wider opened passes through the ranges. I don't know if the original terrain files are in HTC's possession. But, it would be an interesting conversion project to the AH3 beta along with mowing the mountain tops and opening up the passes. Other wise you need a minimum of 400 players for that map to not bore you to death looking for something to do. 500-600 makes it work the best.

In today's work you'd prolly find 80 of the 90 at 185. Gosh the days of those fb battles were pretty fun. I remember trying to run away in my tiger with Panthers and other tigers chasing me up hill and stukas and a20's trying to nab me as I climbed a hill to safety.

But I loved that map and you could always find action

In some ways it was like having three small maps combined using that central mountain range as a cover over the seams. It had many good ideas that worked out well on a local basis. Part of what made them work was how far removed they were from the third country. But, as the numbers got smaller, the pressures that made those out of the way two side big fights work, went away. It was a good map for hoard fights.

Sure, bring Trinity back.

I think this map would work fine with the current reduced player numbers.  In particular, you avoid cross-mountain bomb runs by creating a "beachhead", either at the mountain border, or on the coast.  This is possible, as it occurs all the time on current maps.  Furthermore, the high altitude mountains aren't all bad, as they provided a place where high altitude fighters could shine, and you couldn't always avoid combat by diving for safety.  This latter is of course what happens on the other maps.

A lot of people, including me, also liked the GV battles.  Although CraterMA also provides a popular GV venue, it is usually gone in less than a day.  Not a problem with Trinity.

We should bring it back for a weekend, Or a week. Start it on a Friday when we have the most players on and just try it out. Do it in a month so people can be made aware and make sure they get to play it.

A1 fight was the best air fight on the map, 2 air bases in the canyon and one of the best laid out GV spawns on any map. I hope they bring it back for a few times before AH3 goes live.

map only had 1 fight and that was at the gv camping in the nw.  if you were the south country your were sol in finding fights.

the map encouraged to have a horde against horde in order to even get a single base.  with the lower numbers we have now, it will basically be a 1v1.  and the map will still last 7 long days.
