Loss of P51D

News reports out of Phoenix AZ indicate a P51D (Reporter stated it was a F51D) was observed to be flying erratically and then dove straight into the ground.  Estimated alt was said to be about 3000 feet when first observed.  Pilot is reported to not have survived.  Aircraft was not really recognizable from video of crash site I saw.  Incident was between 3 and 4 pm local time.
