CH Mode settings files
« on: February 08, 2016, 07:59:44 PM »
Last weekend for some unknown reason, I lost all my settings for my CH equipment. I have all 3 devices: Fighterstick, Pro Throttle, and Pedals. I have restored enough basic functions that I am able to fly a plane, fire primary weapons and fight with a GV. I really don't want to go through the week long (or more) exercise that I did originally when I bought the equipment.

So.... I believe it is possible to copy settings files and import them back into the game so I instantly have those settings? If so I would like to borrow someone's files that have the 3 CH equipment pieces. 95% of the time I am either flying a P47 or using a wirble to defend a base.

I will keep a copy of my current files (should have done that before) just in case it doesn't work out.

Thanks!

Did you use CH Control Manager to program your stick or just programmed using AH's keymapper?

So you're not talking about CH's CM Control Center correct? You mean you lost your in game settings right?
Did you use CH Control Manager to program your stick or just programmed using AH's keymapper?
Or what he said.^^

I have the same controllers as you, but I don't have the game installed. I could just go ahead and install it just to set the controls for you, but I don't know how you want them to be set...

I used AH's keymapper. I realize you are not going to know how I set my controls. However, if I have a set installed I can try it out and then modify accordingly. If its too far out from what I used, I can just uninstall it and go back to what I have now (not much) and rebuild all the settings. I figured having a new set to look at would give me some ideas.

Its just so freaking dedious to rebuild it all.

Thanks!

Shouldn't take more than 5 minutes. You push the button twice and the menu pops up. Point and click.

I recommend you start with what you use most and map it where it's most convenient for your hand size.

I just switched from a CH fighter stick and throttle to a Saitek X55 stick and throttle. Going by muscle memory, it took about 20 minutes to get everything I had on the CH redone on the X55. I have tweaked a few things since then but the initial programming didn't take long at all.

Having had CH Products for many years I found the only advantage Control Manager had was that you could program two key strokes into one button, hence

one button could be programed to look up right (keys 9&5 simultaneously.)  But having the large number of buttons and switches I found it easier and faster

to use a combo of look up right to program faster in AHs set up (still one button or switch) instead of CH control Managers look up & right.  AH setup of the

controllers is much faster.

Mar: thanks for the files. I loaded em up last night and will be modifying to suit my preferences. One good thing about using your files is that it forced me to learn to use toe braking. First time I landed I thought "crap, I have no brakes!" Then I remembered toe braking so jumped on the pedals. So now to get familiar with differential braking. Say, does that work with GVs?

I did make a backup of your original files and my existing "minimal" files. Lesson learned there.  :bhead

My fighterstick seems too heavy in its responses so am going to work on tightening that up. Was working off line for awhile and felt the strain in my hand/wrist.

In the end this may have been a good thing to get me out of my way too comfortable zone.
Thanks again!

I did put in the default scaling for the stick (and completely forgot to put it on the rudder) because it's what I used, sorry if it messed you up.

Dunno about GVs, I just used mouse + keyboard for them ever since their control overhaul and it worked pretty good that way.

Be aware of my control mode system. The hat on the side raises/lowers the clipboard and changes control modes. Press the same button that gets you to mode 2/3/4 to get back to mode 1. Mode 1 is normal, and the only changes I made in 2 and 3 are the trigger firing only the primary or secondary weapon.

Mode 4 is for the CM Eye, try it in the TA by pressing F5 in the tower. Hold the trigger to enable moving the Eye with stick and rudder, and throttle up to move forward. Hold the pinky button instead to move in reverse with the throttle. The "Big Red Button" uses what's called map mode, where the Eye will look straight down and you can pan the world with the stick, throttle controls the maximum speed. Useful for getting oriented.

It's there if you want. :) Have fun.
