Ethanol is pretty noxious toejam. There is not one part of the body that isn't damaged by it, from the bone marrow to the skin and everything between. Its an industrial solvent, bathroom sanitizer, topical germicide, glass cleaner, combustion engine fuel, stove fuel. And people drink it.

Ethanol can be made with many things like fibers (grass, corn husk, ect) and can't be processed by the human body. It causes blindness, organ failure and death. It is not to be messed around with. I believe there is a rather hefty upcharge for that.

You're probably right. I know one will kill you, the other won't. You want to be sure to only use grain and not any fibrous material to make alcohol you drink.

 I've heard it's used to extract nonwater solvable ingredients   form a certain type of plant material,so they like to restrict it's availability. As a cabinet maker I often had cause to purchase this solvent,for removing glue of course!
